I can't seem to find the answer to my question here or even on the internet. I found the different spf breakdowns but if i want a tan, is wearing sunblock just gonna make it take longer or will it totally block it?

To my understanding, tanning is just certain cells in your skin which react, by darkening, to UV radiation. Sunblock is a chemical which absorbs that radiation and disipates it as heat. The SPF factor is essentially how long you can stay in the sun before you burn. For example: if you normally burn in 10 minutes and wear SPF 5 sunblock, you can stay in the sun for 50 minutes before burning.
There is no sunblock which can absorb 100% of UV light, so yes you can tan (burn) with sunblock.

I hate to be tiresome but a tan is a sign of sun damage even if you don't burn.
If you must do it keep a really good eye on your moles and see a doc if any new ones develop or any old ones change
