HI - I am a college student, 5'8", 153 lbs, with an hourglass figure. What type of exercise is best for me to lose weight - I heard that the stair-stepper would make my hips bigger. What about the elliptical or walking on a treadmill. I want to lose about 20 lbs. by May. Any suggestions?

It's really not the type, but your total workout routine, frequency and length. Some are higher impact than others, too.

Your best bet is to adopt a sound diet, resistance training and cardio. I personally prefer low impact machines like ellipticals for cardio, but that's me. You have to like your cardio routine, or will get demotivated quickly.

anykinda cardio equipment is good, try them all out......people who use the ellipitacal like me use it cause me running hurts my knees, and they have lil impact on the knees...........switch them up, do 10 on stair master, 10 on tred and 10 on ellipitcal.......keep things fresh..............however do all the cardio you want you if don't eat right its a waste of time and your moeny at the gym
