Is there anything wrong with having fish more than 3X per week.

Remember, the "fat content" in fish is good for you (EFA or essential fatty acids). You can also find good fat (EFA) in peanut butter, flax oil, etc.

Fish is great 3 times a week...but becareful. While preparing for the last two competitions I was eating fish daily. Sometimes twice, one serving fresh, one can Tuna. I am now allergic to fish and cannot have ANY. I cannot have any shrimp, ended up in the emergency room getting an epi shot and then a 911 call the next time it happened....when I eat any other fish I get a rash. My Dr is sending me for Mercury tests.

Thanks for this ifo. I have been eating quite a bit. It could be the cause of a very bad acne break out.

you might be alergic to the iodine in the fish and shrimp and any other seafood. If you eat lobster, avoid it entirely, as it is the highest content. Ask the dr to check that as well. I'll bet it's not the mercury.

Speaking of iodine, I did read that some food intolerances could make acne worse? What is your take on this.

As far as Iodine, most indiiduals think that first. I did too. I take a supplement with Kelp in it and that doesn't bother me. Also I have Jay Robbs Inisol (Iodine) supplement and I put a drop in some water. No reaction. As far as shrimp it can be the unusual type of protein in the shrimp that individuals are intolerant too, not always the iodine.

The reason we suspect mercury is because at the early stages I was able to eat canned Tuna (but not the fresh)and canned Salmon. Then one day I got the reaction eating the Tuna from the can. Salmon and canned Tuna are lower in Mercury than the fresh version.

I will keep you posted on this one.

I don't understand, why do you suspect mercury if canned had less??

Canned Tuna has "less mercury" than fresh. Why ? I am not sure! When I first started reactimg to fish it was only the fresh, then I ate a can of tuna and had the same reaction.

I heard that next year they will have to label canned fish for Mercury content.
