Hello,
My girlfriend has a weak stomach muscle. Shes been told by the doctor not to do situps or crunches as this will aggravate the condition.
Could anyone suggest any exercises she could do to slim out her stomach?

Seems there's 2 different issues here: does she want to strengthen her abs or slim down?

There's no such thing as spot reduction.
Stomach muscles will gradually strengthen naturally when you do any type of weight training since abs are needed in just about everything.

If your girl wants to slim down she should ask her doctor about cardio and some basic weight training that she can do. She for the mean time can start walk at least.
As far as make her ab stronger it will happen slowly on there own while she is working out.
The training depends on what her condition is and what is really wrong.
My doctor said that i will never be able to workout at any level above cardio. HE WAS SO WRONG. I worked on making my neck stronger with yoga and simple weight training and I am so much better now.
So it all depends. If you like I can research for you but I will need to know more information.
It is up to you

Hello this is Clare,
Thanks for all your replies. I already go to the gym and do some cardio exercise along with a few light exercises using weights involving upper and lower body. But I'm not confident doing any work on my stomach because ever since I started to do situps, instead of slimming out my stomach actually started to grow slightly bigger. When I asked my doctor he suggested a weak stomach muscle and advised against any stomach exercises.
I would really appreciate any suggestions on how to really slim out.
Thanks.

Doing cardio at least 4 times a week will help...
Please don't do any ab exercises I would worry about you getting
a hernia. They are not pleasent, I have had 3, one is in my navel.
It also sounds like your doctor didn't give you enough information?
I would go and get another doctor/phisical therapist's oppinion?
