Ok, So I consider myself as having somewhat strong legs. I ski at the varsity level in college and therefore need them. Only one problem...HOW IS IT THAT MY BENCH CAN ALMOST COMPETE WITH MY SQUAT! I mean come on! My bench max is only like 20 lbs less than my squat max and I squat religiously! Deads arent helping either! What's the deal?

is it because you have a very high bench, or a low squat?

I don't bench all that much. I am about 5"4' and weigh about 165 lbs. My max bench is about 240. Squat is only about 20 above that and dead is considerably lower.

lot of it depends to on how ur geneticly built ( arnold had a big chest it was over 58 in i believe) but besides that..............if u do do alot of skiing then if u ask me i think u have more endurance muscle fibers( red i think) they r about 20 to 30% smaller and fast twitch( white) ....may have gotten colors mixed up lol anyways thats y power lifters are big* they train with lots of weight and gymnastics are leaner but not neccasly stronger..........just a theroy though

Interesting, never thought of that! However, Id like to be able to squat much much more. I hear good things about bands and chains but I dont have access to either, nor do I think I am at the level to benefit from them anyway. Anyway, thanks!
