I just started taking A whey protein shake and Creatine. I'm not sure which one it is, but one of them has given me some serious gas issues.

I'm wondering if this is a common side effect of either of these products (I'm guessing it's the protein) & if it's just a matter of my body adjusting to.

TIA
Jim

My guess is the whey protein. I've noticed the same thing and it is really annoying. I have a problem like this with dairy and I use soy milk and soy proteins usually, but someone told me the whey shouldn't bother me. Wrong! I also think adding more carbs than I am used to is contributing to more gas, at least for me.

I've never had any probs with whey shakes. Though I tried a weight gainer a couple times that was... uh.. "explosive".

Most of the time, cheap whey powders and cheap creatine powders are the culprit with bad gas. And azred, whoever told you that doesn't know anything about whey. Whey is a byproduct of milk so, if you have problems with dairy, you will have problems with whey. Optimum has improved on there 100% Whey powder by adding lactase, to help those who can't digest dairy products efficiently. Jdailey, what company do you get your protein/creatine from?

Not knowing one brand from the other I got small bottles of the GNC brand, thinking that I will try a different brand when I run out.

Yes dahayz, I knew it was a dairy product. I was using only soy powders, but several here said they were inferior so now I use whey post-workout and soy at other times.

The company AST makes an awesome micronized creatine powder, ultra pure and dissolves completely. GNC's protein powder is junk, (I used to work there, trust me when I say that) Like I stated in my post, Optimum makes a very good whey powder called 100% Whey, or AST makes the best Whey Isolate on the market called VP2.
