With such a topic so broad we truly try to cover the basics from all angles in this group. Nothing too big or too small. Nutrition is as significant if not more as exercise is to reaching your goals so learn all you can.
Hey. First post but I've been looking around for awhile and just decided to say heck with it and ask for advice. I'm 21 and I've been trying to lose a lot of excess weight (started out about 285/290) and I've been doing good up until the past month or two. For some reason after I hit about 219/218 all of my losses stopped (which includes fat % loss...stuck around 18-20%). I was on what I guess was a starvation diet at first where I only had two meals and very limited carbs (ate a normal meal and then for dinner I had a can of Tuna, cottage cheese, and sometimes a fruit and jello snakc). After leaving that because of the very low energy I started one of those crappy found on TV diets (The 6 week body makeover) which was pretty much Atkins just with a different name (I started that one around the time my losses stopped thinking it was the diet). That one was a total waste of time and money. So now I went to my local gym (Ballys) and they gave me a much more balanced meal plan (the ratios are about 50, 30, 20) and a new workout plan. The current workout plan I am on is cardio 4-6 times a week for 45 mins with some ab work right after and a core workout (chest, shoulders/back, legs) 3 times a week (low weight with a 20-25 rep range for 4-5 sets on a circuit style changeup). I admit I am much better off than I was but my percentage is still above norm an I would like at some point to see 11% if not that than maybe 14-15.5 so I can get rid of this gut and huge legs (plus others).
I don't take any supplementation minus my multi-vitamin and am leary to start but I'm so discouraged at this point I've actually contemplated it. No ephedra for me considering my hr is high enough as is...also trying to stay away from any other stimulant type of supplement. I was taking creatine but it was the serum which from the stuff I have read/seen it is completely useless. Any suggestions would be helpful as I am all out of ideas.
