So there I am.. Open to suggestion as usual..

An email comes across from my spin club.. Anyone want to go for a ride this weekend?

Well.. I'm on nights, but if the time isn't too late, sure I'm interested.  The plan is to go from Toronto and head westbound.

It's a beautiful morning.. I get off work at 6am as usual and head to the lake and try to get an hour nap by the water.  Naturally the sun is in the air and there's no chance of sleeping, so I find a Timmys and get myself a coffee.. yes.. a coffee.

I change into some slightly more appropriate attire in my car, pump up my tires, fill up my bottles and I'm off.  A few mins of chatting at the club and we're off.  It's a nice pace to the lake again, then faster along the lake.  About 20k in, half the group turns around because of time restraints.  I continue on with a few others where we pass by some Dragonboat races on the river.  The group was planning a stop at Starbucks, so I thought I would check on my team to see how they're doing.

As luck would have it, they're short 2 paddlers, so I find a safe place to hide my bike, kick off my cleats, hide my helmet and minutes later, I'm in the boat paddling up the river for our first race.  A few minutes later, it's over.  How cool is that?

Oh, it's not over yet.  I say goodbye to my team (my second team.. recreational) and go get my bike n stuff and find that my riding group is about done for the day and are scattering.  So I hop on my bike and blast back into Toronto to my car and make my way home.  Before I get on the highway towards my house an hour away, I think to myself that I'm feeling pretty wide awake, and decide to go join my team for the rest of the day.

Fortunately, (I paddle left), another paddler showed up who paddles right, and we have our second race (much better!) and then do our final (C division gold!).  During down time, I wander over to the local bike shop, order some new brake pads for the MTB and chat with a few officers I know who were doin traffic direction.

All said and done, I drove home extremely bleary eyed, but very happy to have had such a great day of different activity when I would have otherwise been sleeping.

Love it!
