The Climb

My fourth circuit training session and I admit, there were external factors that distracted me - like the rain (and the risk of heavy traffic later on), the gym being far from home, squeezing my workout time just before going to work, on a night shift to top that, and I noted that this circuit training requires max rest of 45 seconds.

Here's what I did. Before any warm up and stretching rituals, I collected the 10lbs-plates and assembled them on the machines that I would be using. I felt so relieved because on my first three sessions, I had to hurry up just to setup those weights while switching equipment.

Now the rest flowed smoothly. I 90% followed the 45-second rest rule!

And, boy, it was a rush! I was wearing my Suunto watch and chest belt to monitor my heart rate and it was so elevated. I felt so energized. The transition from one exercise to the next had been smooth. Then, the cardio (elliptical) making sure not to overdo by keeping my heart rate with just the right pace (134bpm max).

Overall I was so happy. Then again, I still need to find ways to improve my workout. It's amazing when you are actually doing it rather than just reading about it. You could really learn a lot by experiencing it rather than imagining it.

This is just the beginning of the climb - got a higher way to go.
