Starting Out

So I'm going to the gym with my girlfriend today for the first time in what's been at least 6 months.  I'm 21 years old, 5'7, 180 lbs, and would like to get down to 155 lbs.  I've been an athlete my entire life and know what to do in the gym, but my problem is with nutrition.  I've never really had to think about what I'm eating before, and it seems like I need a pretty regimented diet in order to stick with it.

Yesterday I think I did pretty well all things considered - I had coffee for breakfast.  For lunch, I had a big salad containing: mesclun greens, spinach leaves, 1/3 red bell pepper, 1 slice ham, 1 slice sorpressatta, 1 slice proscuitto, and balsamic dressing with a little bit of extra virgin olive oil.  For dinner, it was my younger brother's confirmation, so we went out to our favorite Italian restaurant for dinner.  I did the best I could and skipped all the cheesy garlic bread and calamari, and had a house salad to start instead.  Just basic greens with olives and peppers.  For my main meal, I had shrimp fra diavolo, basically shrimp in a spicy tomato sauce.

If anybody could point me to somewhere where I could get help building a personalized diet plan for conjunction with my new exercise routine, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
