So, after a setback last October (the 10th to be precise) with a nasty case of Plantar Faciatis, I spent the winter sans running, but continuing with spin classes.  They were great and helped give me the cardio I was seeking, but the light at the end of the tunnel was approaching.

I signed up for a dragonboat training camp in Orlando for April 6th.  Getting there a couple of days early, I did the tourist thing around town, taking in a little sun and fun at a nearby water park.  Day 1 finally came along and with it was 2 "workouts" plus 2 paddling sessions.  I also signed up for a 1 week gym membership.  Unfortunately that Day 1 was not to be.

I was awakened about an hour before my alarm by a pain in my back, which soon turned into a pain just below the ribs in front.  Turns out my galbladder was screaming.  The next morning it came out.  So now I have "orders" not to lift anything above 15lb for 4 weeks, then more after 6 weeks.

While my stomach is definitely still tender from the fresh healing incisions, there's no way in hell I'm waiting 4 weeks to go back to the gym.  My plan for now is to give it a try on Monday with some light weights, and putting my focus on lots of reps with good form, and as I listen to my body, adding more.

Unfortunately this will keep me out of the boat for a few weeks.  The rotation my sport requires will no doubt be a bit much.  Until I rejoin my team, I do have an outrigger canoe that I will put in the water and at least work on the back and arms component and as I heal up, I'll add more and more rotation.
