no canoe today

Boats are really divas as far as craving attention. Dock water is turned off in the winter even though it only freezes twice a damn winter here so we have to go to the marina gas dock to fill up water tanks  once a week . Well, today we knew we were low so we went ahead and did some cleanup and completely drained the tanks on purpose.

I cranked the port engine....fine. Hit the port starter. nada. We have a switch which will put all 4 batteries on line for cranking. Hit it...nada. I spent the next two hours banging around in the engine room and finally ran the goblins off. Starboard motor fired up and off we go for water at 4:30 PM. No time to canoe. We'll try tomorrow if the weather isn't sideways.

The really maddening thing is that the damn engine wouldn't crank until I contorted myself between the starboard hull and the engine with a hammer and banged on the starter while the admiral bumped the starter and the battery switch. I HATE laying next to those big 454s when they crank and we're both 3 feet below the water line.

The last time I had to go there was earlier this winter to fix a water leak. When I squeezed by the engine my sweats hooked on the gas filter and I was halfway to where I was going. So when I stretched out to fix the leak , with water blasting me in the face, my sweats were down around my ankles and my shiney white ass was all my wife could find to laugh at. There can be not much dignity with your pants around your ankles.
