How often to work out?

Thinking that I need to re assess the work out schedule that I have chosen. Right now I have scheduled cardio 4 days a week and core/muscles 3. This was easily done during the break but now that we are all back to school and the kids are back to their after school activities it is proving difficult. Maybe 3 cardio and 1-2 core muscle is more realistic? Also I have tested mixing in a cardio work out that also includes core training (boxing) and it was fun and killed 2 birds with 1 stone. The key is to set goals that are attainable right? Working out 7 days a week is not attainable right now and probably not healthy either correct? Am I just talking myself out of a viable plan here or does this make sense- FEEDBACK PLEASE!!

Thanks for the feedback Cermakovia! I am alternating between core upper and lower but as my goal is to lose weight and fat I thought I should focus mainly on cardio to begin. I have been doing a "boxercise" program that feels like it is covering a little bit of everything. I am getting my heart rate up to where it should be and the exercises are working out my upper body and core with a little bit of legs as well. So now I am thinking that maybe my non cardio day should be a leg day. Either way I keep reminding myself that this process will involve a little trial and error and t keep focused on success in the long term. Having a community like this where someone is always willing to offer advice and encouragement helps! Thanks again!

It makes total sense! you should definitely include a rest day. Your body needs it. It's great that you are working on core and cardio, but don't forget about the rest of your body! A common schedule would be upper body one day, lower the next and then cardio on 3rd day, repeat. On the 7th day is a rest day. If you want more you can do cardio on upper body day after your workout as well. If you can manage to do cardio after leg day, you are made of tougher stuff than I that's for sure.
