I am a 46 yo women and I paly Roller Derby.  I love the sport so much that I have quit smoking and have really tried to work on getting stronger.  I feel that I am not quilfied to do this on my own.  I have ostioperosis (not sure that I spelled that correct) but am wanting to try to make my bones stronger too.  I want to feel better about my body.  I have noticed that it is starting to age... go figure... lol

I know that I can out skate quite a few of the girls on my team that are half my age... that makes me feel good... but it takes longer for me to heal and come fall... forget about it!!!  OMG the aches and pains can really get to me.

Any one have any ideas what to do to help with what I want to accomplish?

First---AWESOME !!!! Kudos about roller derby I have a friend who skates and goodness I would love to but I know I would hurt myself. Lol... Second--Definitely keep up with the cardio, take the women's day daily vitamins or for women over 50 (i know you are not 50 yet but it has more vitamins to prevent osteoperosis). Also taking additional calcium probably wouldn't hurt. But GNC people never have a problem directing you on what supplements to take. Exercise--Like I said cardio, keeps your heart strong, and weights--light on the pounds, higher in the repetitions. This way you are not necessarily getting body builder big but you are building lean muscle which helps if you are injured at your sport. Again....KUDOS on rollerderby! i'm jealous ;) hehehe hope that helps.

congratulations on quitting smoking. That's hard. Pain is weakness leaving the body. Stick to it and ask questions.
