so in my studies (and in my leisure time) I spend a lot of time reading medical journal archives, etc.

Sometimes I come across stuff that is interesting and applicable in the world of strength training... However it is often difficult to understand and occasionally trivial...

I want to know if you guys would like me to start posting some of what I come across. They are tough to understand, but I am willing to try and explain some of them. However, there should be a geniune interest, because otherwise I'm wasting time.

So who's interested?

I wouldn't want you to waste your time but if enough interest is shown then I think it would be great and I'll definitely be reading through this thread!

hey wrestler
i agree totally with mvp:) although i barely post on this site i do alot of reading and have read alot of threads that you have posted in and i love the way phrase your answers so a wider audience can understand and not just read and be like what the!! or maybe this could just be a page where if you find anything interesting you could give tiny summary about what it was then link to the page so you didnt have to go to as much effort then if something was to complicated they could ask..

I think it would be a wealth of information for us, you might want to start it out as a trial, and if it becomes too complex, you can always discontinue it. :)

I think it's a great idea. It would definitely keep some action in this board and allow all of us to learn more.

I didn't realize so many of you actually read this forum... Looks like everyone other than Ron thinks it would be a good idea, so next time I come across anything interesting, I'll post it and we can discuss it here. There were actually a few I was reviewing the other day, I'll pick one and post later tonight...

I have posted tons of studies, tips, tricks, etc. over the years. If they are too technical, or even have some science sounding words in them, folks do not even read them.

Make a post that has science behind it telling best way to lose fat, what to do with studies, and noone even responds. They get maybe one reply.

Make a 'd*ck' post and it gets 100 responses.

Well...this is true...some things are just interesting.

But I read your posts bb1...and try my best to understand them.Sometimes I do...sometimes I don't...depends on how the cookie is crumbeling that day:).

Anyway...I think most people are like me...they read them.

I don't doubt that from you BA. Reading at all must hurt your eyes.

Aside from that, I have to go no further than my leptin post a couple weeks ago. May well be one of the most fascinating aspects of weight loss/gain, control, and what, one, maybe 2 responses?

I have to agree with KC here. Just because no one responds doesn't mean the post isn't read. I read most of the technical posts, but have to admit i get kind of lost sometimes, and i have a scientific background and am used to reading journals. I also have a pretty short attention span, so the shorter and more concise the article, the better. If wrestler is willing to digest and regurgitate in laymens terms, some of the more interesting articles he's read, then I say go for it.

that's a shame BB1. However I can only speak for myself and I mainly post in S/P...with only occassionally roaming to other forums...

Well, it is nice to hear these things. At least one feels like all the 'effort' is not a total waste. It is in fact all about trying to help the folks on this board.

By the way, hopefully many have taken notice that I stopped posting any 'study' type stuff and have been posting in as relative and simple terms as possible, with always leaving the notation (for simplicities sake, and if anyone wants more in depth feel free to respond so, etc.).

Sometimes I feel like I am being too simple, but 'listening' to you folks I am doing the right thing.

That is why I asked Ron. To get an idea for what everyone wanted...

I'll post an abstract, followed by a link to the full study. After that, I'll give an explanation and then open up for discussion. Anyone that has questions can ask away and I will do my best to help those that take the time to ask those questions.

I'll probably be posting mostly in the powerlifting forum, since that is where I normally post most anyways, and most of my research has to do with performance rather than aesthetics.

I wouldn't mind reading some of your material wrestler.... I have a degree in biochemistry with focus on the nutrition and dietary side, and have a knack for liking to learn new things from reliable sources and wouldn't mind reading all the technical things you find.... Even though it seems technical to some people, other people may understand it better and get usefull information on it.

Plus if anyone ever has any questions for myself on the aspects I know about (biochemistry, nutrition, supplementation and its effects on the human body, etc.) feel free to ask. I wouldn't mind answering the questions myself and since I hope to learn from everyone, I wouldn't mind teaching a few things as well.

As a side note, if it gets real technical I can break it down into more feasible information as needed :) So post away! :)

I read all of your study related posts for the most part. Just because there aren't posts under it doesn't at all mean that it isn't read and appreciated, just no questions in my case.

The D*ck posts just seem to get people riled (sp?) up.

ya, i read them all, but i don't post because it's not my field of expertise and wouldn't even really know what to ask if it's really scientific. however, that doesn't mean i won't try what the overall outcome of the study was in real life. and then, if it works for me, i add it to my day to day life. if it doesn't, i move on to something else.
