What's the answer?

In the male discussion board, I innocently responded to a post and I referred to women as "female". I was chastised for doing so. So I thought I'd ask here in the forum dedicated to women's issues what the heck I need to call you?

Silly Charlie. Not EVERYTHING is about you! We weren't chastising you. We were chastising Corless who said "Treat females nice" or something like that. It's ok to refer to women as females in the official context.
For example, if a man were to say "I really need a female opinion, can you help me?"
Where as saying "To get dates with the females you need to buy them flowers". That is disrespectful.
Another example of good: "Can you refer me to a Dr. who is well versed in female issues?"
A bad example: "Females are evil, they always say I'm their baby daddy".
Do you follow now?

UMM....no. Official? I'm glad I'm old and only have one wimminz to please. Political correctness would be the death of me if I had to be 30 again.

I'm 30, Charlie. Screw being politically correct. I just try to be nice (that rarely works, though). I guess I'm just not very good with women/females/ladies/chics... Whatever 'they' are...

What's the answer? Charlie, it doesn't matter. Even if they told you and you used it, you'd still be wrong.

But Amy, you are a 'they' because I can't say 'we'. When discussing males and females, I can't be a 'we'.

Awww, forget it. You're right, Tim. 'We' males are wrong anyway...

I think you should just refer to all women as "your bitches"

How about "you"?

From the online entymology dictionary...
female (n.)
c.1315, from O.Fr. femelle, from M.L. femella "a female," from L. femella "young female, girl," dim. of femina "woman" (see feminine). Sense extended in V.L. from humans to female of other animals. Spelling alt. late 14c. on mistaken parallel of male. Reference to sockets, etc., is from 1669.
...
feminine
c.1384, "of the female sex," from O.Fr. feminin, from L. femininus "feminine" (in the grammatical sense at first), from femina "woman, female," lit. "she who suckles," from base of felare "to suck, suckle" (see fecund). Sense of "woman-like, proper to or characteristic of women" is recorded from c.1440. Feminism is from 1851, but meant at first "state of being feminine;" sense of "advocacy of women's rights" is 1895. Feminist is 1894, from Fr. féministe (1872).

Any term used in a friendly fashion is OK - used in anger, dislike or hatred is bad.

yes, I am sory that should have "my Bitches" not "your bitches"

One of my all time fave t-shirts says "I am not a bitch. I am THE bitch. And it is Miss Bitch to you."

What's wrong with the word female?? I get called female everyday and it doesn't ever seem offensive to me. But maybe I'm just use to it. But being called a female is a lot better then the other words that have been used to describe females.

Charlie, you did nothing wrong in referring to a woman as a female....After all, WE ARE FEMALE.

Call me a female anytime you choose, just don't call me late for supper.:):):)
