I just got an interesting proposal from the kids godfather....he lives in El Paso and is training for a triathalon in the spring...he suggested I train with him virtually then he will fly me over for the event...right now I'm still involved in the challenge so I said I wouldn't train until february...he believes what I'm doing now will be a good precursor...then to train on the bike and swim come february for an event in May...what do ya think???Possible???

I think you should do it, KC! When you are challenged and motivated you can do anything!

Go for it! I'll be training for my next tri as soon as the weather improves enought that I can get back on my bike-probably March. The tri is why I'm currently doing the swimming. You might want to begin with a sprint tri, the distances are a bit shorter. There's a great website call beginnertriathelete.com . If you go for this, I'll virtually train with you as well, I think my next tri is in May too.

Training for competition > training for nothing.

As soon as you committ, you'll feel much more motivated. Its a reason to traing, and helps you get through all those long workouts.

Why would you not? If you are physically capable, which by your progress and posts you are, this may be the ultimate training protocol to get you 'over the top'.

A free trip to boot...I say go for it.

Go for it, of course! I wish I could train for something like that--I'd do it if I had the opportunity.

Don't forget to post this in the Body Building and Fitness Competition board and keep track of it.

Good Luck, it will be something great to look back at and who knows it might stimulate something in you to continue challenging yourself.

KC, good luck girl!! I hope that after I lose my weight goal that my knees and back will be able to handle the rigors of running again. I would nothing more than run some competitive 5 K's again!!

WELL....I just got an email...the kids godfather has torn his shoulder at work...now he's not sure he can train...it's looking like surgery..pretty bad tear I suppose.
SO...I'm going to look for something here locally....maybe a 5k or something of the like.
