Has anyone heard of the Tupler Technique for training the traverse muscle for a tighter tummy? I was researching diastasis this morning and found it. FitBuddy didn't return anything. WebMD has some info about it in a chat transcript. http://www.webmd.com/content/chat_transcripts/1/106218.htm
All you wonderful muscle experts around here, please share your opinion.

I've never heard of a "tupler technique" but the transverse abdominus can only be strengthened a limited degree. The exercise you will hear about is commonly refered to as the vacuum pose.

Wow, That was really an interesting article. I wore a back brace for about 6 months and noticed the loss of my shapely abs. Now I notice the flab of my abs. This article puts a whole new light on the flab.
I like the vaccuum press idea as a "stand alone" exercise for now and a "pre-exercise" later. I find that crunches hurt my spine in my lower back. I'm guessing because I have no Internal muscles helping out.
Thanks for article...

You may have tight and overactive hip flexors if your back hurts from crunches. I would suggest looking into the serratus crunch and front plank or "pillar" as alternative abdominal exercises.
A couple other alternatives would be crunches on a swiss ball or "janda" sit ups. Look these up, and if you have any questions, PM me.
