I was watching TapouT and the competitor was trying to drop 5 pounds so he went to the gym and he did cardio hardcore for an hour. He ran on a treadmill and then rode an excercise bike for about 30 minutes each. He was sweating really bad. When he was done there was a puddle of sweat on the excercise bike. I was just wondering is this a healthy way to lose weight? or is it just one of those things where you lose the weight now but you gain it back later? For those of you who have never seen TapouT its a show about these guys who train one guy to fight someone at the end of the show.

A lot of wrestles will do that as well. They are losing mostly water weight in order to hit their target weight for weigh-ins. They will ususally gain most of it back once they eat a few times.

To answer your question, no, this is not a good way to lose weight if you want to keep it off.
