I think you should definitely consult your doctor before starting any program. That being said, it'll be your diet that takes the #1 priority. No permanent weight loss is possible without having your diet in check. And just like any venture into fitness, yours needs to start with baby steps and work up from there. I have an 75 year old guy who works out regularly at my gym who sports an oxygen tank! So you can do this! Plan your work, then work your plan.
