Around this time of year there are a lot of people joing gyms, resolving that this year is the year they get fit. That is one side of the fitness coin. The other side is the one filled with people (maybe like you), that are not newbies to exercise. Your are the one that for years was up at dawn to run lift whathave you. Now all of a sudden you get a curve ball thrown at you. A loved one dies, you get ill/injured. Your drive to lift, eat right and exercise is gone. Life has taken over and it is all you can do to just live, let alone go to a gym....I know I was there many times....just a year ago exactly for me. I had a retail job and after being on my feet 11 hours the last thing I wanted to do was lift. SO I stopped. I know some of you have been there and are there now.

So what do you do? I say deal with it. By that deal with what life has thrown your way. Afterwards come back to us. Ease into the routine of exercise and eating right. A big mistake (one I learned the hard way) is to come back and think to pick up where you left off. Ease into it!

Plan ahead for 1-3 weeks of soreness and getting used to it all again. Make small goals you can reach, then make harder ones as you reclaim your spot. Above all else do NOT GIVE UP!!

I second what he said.... I had a curveball 1 1/2 years ago (a major job and move across the country) and I am in week 2 of soreness and quickly building back up to where I was before.

Have you been reading my logs Mutt:) Yup, can totally relate and your advice is very good! It's tough to get back into it, but oh so worth it when you get there! Life would be pretty boring without all the bumps in the road and we're made that much stronger by experiencing them!

Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

By the way did you hear the one about the priest, the rabbi, and the nun?

Like Rocky Balboa said..."it's not how hard you can hit, it's how hard you can get hit and keep on pushing yourself forward!"

LOL, I know he is corny, but I loved those words of inspiration. Man can I take a PUNCH!
