I've run into confusion of what is probably the most important factor in strength training- intensity. I do know that is has to do with the 1rm% being used, rest intervals and how close you're going to failure, but could someone please outline this for me or give me a good link so that I can get a better idea of what it is. I turns out it isn't quite as simple as I thought.

Intensity in lifting is correctly defined as % of 1rm.

Arthur Jones is responsible for the "working hard = intense" trend.
