OK, all you finely tuned females out there - this one is for my wife - shhhh... don't tell her I'm asking this, don't want her to get upset ;)

My wife recently gave birth to our second daughter in January. Yeah! The baby's a cutie, but I digress...

Since then, she seems to have lost some weight (her breasts have really shrunk too! She used to be a 34-D her whole adult life, but now down to almost an A cup!). She doesn't work out at all, I suspect it is all the running around she does at home taking care of a 2 year old and a 7 month old :)

Anyway, to my point - her flabby skin on her stomach - obviously due to the stretching from pregnancy. She used to have a small gut before the babies, but now since she lost some weight, the fat seems to have diminished but the flabby skin is still there.

Is there anything she can do to help tighten up that area and lose the sagging pouch? How do all those mothers out there manage to maintain good midsections?

There's nothing you can do about the saggy skin short of surgery. It may continue to tighten up over the next few years, though.

Where do you get the idea "all those mothers out there" have good midsections? LOL Can I come live in your fantasy world? After having two kids I can crunch til the cows come home but those low rise bikini days are OVER. :(

It is actually dependant upon the elasticity of one's skin. Seven months isn't enough time for the natural elasticity of the skin to get that tummy back taut. How old is she? Did she get stretch marks or does she have laugh or frown lines on her face?

Those are some indicators of how elastic her skin is.

Unfortunately you cannot really do much about flabby skin, but try to smooth it with some cream or fill it out with some muscles.....

Another thing, does your wife breast feed?

If she does well then your wife has one of the very best possibilties to get rid of that last stubborn fat on her thighs and butt (caused by eostrogens!!!) It's actually NOW just after giving birth (and breast feeding) that our bodies FINALLY uses the fat sources that we now have soooo many hard problems to loose.

Just wanted to inform you...... (so girls, go and get pregnant and you'll be able finally to get those lean legs you've always dreamed of!!! ;o)

Okay everyone, I am 42 and went from 250lbs down to 127 and flabby skin is a big problem. If anyone out there accomplised the same thing as me, short of surgery, how long did it take for you skin to fit your body? I want to compete in May 2003, but not with this problem

If it can help you Kramaer, then when you'll have all the competition tan cream on, then small skin imperfections will be a lot harder to see.
Maybe it'll only be YOU who'll be able to see it.....

This could be a very sticky situation if your wife has not asked for your input.

But, I am going to say after 17 years of not taking care of myself, 3 kids, one delivered vertical c-section that what everyone says on here about clean eating and excersize is the truth.

I am currently 39 yrs old 5' 3" and have went from 145 lbs to 113 lbs and am having the time of my life getting fit. I thought I would always have the nasty little belly left over, sure some of it is still there but it looks 100 x's better than it did and it is still getting better.

I know genetics plays a big part but you have to be willing to work at it, keep trying, don't give up.

You say you wife appears to have lost some of the weight, did she gain a lot of weight? Is it actually loose skin or is it fat? Also its not been that long since she had a baby so her body my still be adjusting to all those extra hormones involved.

wow I have the same problem, it tightens up after a couple years but it will never go away except for the possibility of surgery. I've been fighting with this for 16 years ha ha.

I have had 4 kids including a c-section and the truth is I stayed active during all four pregnancies. My skin stretched a little more with each pregnancy, but I did return to competition after the fourth baby. With proper diet and exercise my tummy ALMOST return to normal. I would like to see all the m-- try having four babies and watch their bellies return to normal. So to all the ladies out there, I love being a mom more then pleasing the world.
See you in the gym

Ive had two c-sections in two years, one emergency a;nd one elective, I have lost alot of weight since having my youngest who now is 11 weeks. but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what exercises work best for targetting the lower abs and if they are safe to do after a c-section, any advice or shared experiences would be welcomed:big_smile:
