Okay, I am new, and this is my 2nd post. I am 336, 5'10"ish. 38 yrs old. I have been heavy all my life. Lost about 81 pounds (started at 371) gained some back. When I lost the 81 pounds, I was under a lot of stress from a Divorce, simply didn't eat, drank coffee, smoked, didn't sleep and honestly I felt like crap...any hoo..I am back on track with a fantastic man in my life who is such an encouragement. We are doing this together!
I have been going to the gym for two weeks now, start of by utilizing various machines, I walk on the treadmill for 5 minutes, pushed it to 6 last week) and then I swim 6-7 laps (breast stroke) focusing on my legs and kicking..by the end of this, I am done in..being 336 pounds its hard. I have no health problems (trying to avoid)
Ok..so I rambled...back to my post...
My weight is concentrated around my stomach area, hips, buns, etc. I am concerned that once I reach my goal weight, I am gonna have to have surgery to remove the excess skin? Does the skin change as I am losing weight? or should I start looking and saving for surgery later??
Just a thought...

Well some of it may "snap" back but it has been my experieince that no you will need surgery to get rid of the excess.

I wish everyone would get a partial amnesia and never use 'tone' ever again. (thanks Menance)

I have a sister in law that went from 315 down to 140. She did it slow and her doctor said it was the best way to give the elasticity of the skin a better chance of snaping back. It took a LONG time to gain the weight, let your body burn the fat off slowly and it will help. I think some of it has to do with genetics also.

Do a fitbuddy search on excess skin. This has been discussed before and I think that there are some creams and lotions that can be used to help as the weight comes off. I personally used vitamin E oil after my second pregnancy to try to help the skin out. It seemed to help, but that could be my imagination. ;)

I dont think it was your imagination!! My son cut his leg bad on an ATV when he was young. We used vitamin E and it REALLY helped to eliminate the scaring. I hear that E works wonders on stretch marks too.

Go and read of your life
