I was wondering if you guys would recommend taking NO-XPLOD before i workout there? Like 40 min before hand? I've heard some great things about it, and I was told it can help me get out more reps possibly on workouts and help with other things (long jump, vertical, 40 etc.) What do you guys think?

You're kidding right? Come on, why not just work hard and eat right? I strongly recommend that you DO NOT take crap like that ever.

i work hard 4-5 days a week in the weight room. I've just heard its got good results and i only planned on taking it for this weekend to see how i;d do. Im trying to push my body as far as i can go to get the best results. i dont want to hurt myself, but i wanted to know if it was safe.

I've taken it, gives good pumps...seems to help with warming up and junk. but I saw no great things from it enough to spend 40bucks for a jug.

If you havn't taken it before, or never used it...why bother for just 1 day

Well, while im here. might as well ask you another question about a shake mix i have going the night of or morning of a lift.

3 scoops of ice cream
1 spoon full of peanut butter
1 scoop of whey mix (27 g protien)
1 scoop of muscle mild (17g protien)
and about half a cup to 3/4 cup of milk

i like caffeine 200-500mg caffeine+500mg aspirin+60mg pseudoephedrine+500mg magnesium...it improves endurance....and helps for maximum exertion....this ofcourse is very individual....so if u dont know how u respond to these things then dont do them(caffeine tolerance, reyes, etc)...I usually notice great benefit in almost all endurance activities whether cardio or lifting.......

however i agree with every1 else....proper nutrition and lifting/gpp/other skill drills take priority over any supplement....

I'd get rid of the ice cream too much milk with alot of running can upset your stomach.

cut that out and throw in a bananna...imo

Why magnesium pre-workout? It is a muscle relaxant. I like it post workout, or rather before bed, but I try to avoid high levels of blood magnesium (such as an epsom bath the day before lifting).

Can't see how a natural relaxant would help with muscle contraction.

Magnesium is an essential mineral in energy metabolism, protein synthesis, neuromuscular transmission, and bone structure. Calming to the nervous system, it is involved in over 100 metabolic enzyme reactions in the body. It helps with muscle contraction because A) it is an important mineral in neuromuscular transmission and B) important for energy metabolism. I don't think it is a potent relaxant. My experience with magnesium is the calming effect helps me focus and not fall into a state of overstimulation.

It's been shown to be a muscle in test trials and in sleep studies. If it's enough to put you to sleep deeper, than it's more potent then I want right before I plan on lifting.

While the relaxation of muscle is an important function, even while training, I would not want ELEVATED blood magnesium levels while lifting, unless over stimulation or tight muscles were a problem. For example, if a sprinter was having problems getting their quads to relax during acceleration, this might warrant it.

If it works for you, then stick with it. I've seen to the contrary to put any more thought into it.

It only put those people into a deeper sleep because:
A) They were probably deficient in magnesium
B) It was a sleep study
C) Be careful extrapolating the data from a study like this to training.
