Is there any way to get a good, muscle building workout using machines only (particularly for legs/glutes? I injured my neck a month ago and have been advised not to do squats or heavy deadlifts.)

Also, can smith machine bench be used as a supplement to add bulk if I lift moderate weight on a standard bench beforehand, playing it safe (stopping 2-3 short of failure)? I have no spotter so I am trying to make the best of it.

Absolutely. Any form of resistance will aid in mucle gains.
And to top it off, there is a free bonus, you will be using perfect form.
Good Luck.
