how to cut cravings????

I am what I call a "grazer"...haha...but really...when I am bored...I eat...and I wil go back and forth to the fridge and not even eat anything...or eat when I'm not hungry...
I know the simple answer would be stop eating, but this seems to be a life long problem...I want to lose weight and keep it off....and be healthy...
I have heard buddying up is one of the more effective ways to diet/exercize...
But I was wondering if there are any tips on cutting the cravings to eat....

drink more water and change your habits, do something away from the fridge.
