I just got back from my first full powerlifting meet.

I totaled 1045 in 181 open division. Weighed in at 175.

Squat
1) 315 3 whites
2) 345 3 whites
3) 370 3 whites The was a PR in and out of the gym.

In the bathroom I had a national judge complement me on my squats. That was real nice boost to my ego.

Steve...I figured out that I stop leaning so far over when I stopped looking the mirror.

I burried 370. I have some video that I will post on utube a bit later.

Bench
1) 225 3 whites
2) 240 3 whites
3) 250 miss 3 reds

The judges were making us wait forever at the top and like 2-3 seconds at the bottom.

DL
1) 405 3 whites
2) 435 3 whites The was a PR in and out of the gym
3) 450 missed 3 reds

It was a total blast and look forward to doing it again sometime.

My buddy Jared broke the NY state deadlift record in the 198 junior(20-23) division. The previous record was 545. He pulled 560, 610, 630.

I think I mentioned this at one point, it's the reason no one on our team is allowed to dl facing the mirror anymore.

Awesome job on your lifts... That 250 is HUGE considering how much they have changed the rules with benching. *

Also, i'm pretty sure Jared got the national record to. When he was planning his cycle and figuring out meets, we had the previous record pegged at 585. Needless to say, he smashed it.

Curl Jockeys, get outta the squat rack!

I wish everyone would get a partial amnesia and never use 'tone' ever again. (thanks Menance)

thanks guys. 370 was easy(maybe not easy, but not an all out effort)...I pretty sure I could of nailed 380. I definitely would have had 375. I can hear 405 knocking at the door. uummmm....4 plates. That is going to be a great day. I really need to work on my bench...I am still having trouble getting my setup right. I didn't have any leg drive at meet. I was too afaid of my ass comming off the bench or my feet tilting a little.

bring those feet wider then, and tilt your pelvis towards the bench... if your but comes up, you're feet aren't wide enough.

I still think your bench is coming along nicely, at least for someone that had to spend 10 seconds doing it, and considering it doesn't go up as fast as your other lifts...

I know I need to bring my feet out, but I am not quite flexible enough to get my feet as wide as they need to be and still keep my feet flat on the floor. I tend to come up on the inside edge of my shoe. I am almost there, I just need little more mobility.

You can check out my squat attempts on my t-nation profile.
Should be the last 3 vids, but if not, they are the one where I am wearing a black singlet and the only ones of me squatting.

dude, I've seen 315 take longer on your back than that 370 attempt.

Keep you head up out of the rack. You wait until the squat command to bring your head back and up. You should be doing that to get the bar out of the racks, instead you're looking at the floor. I have a tendency to do the same.

I know, but the judge said not look at him until you were setup. I saw him tell someone to squat before he was ready because he was looking at the judge and it mess him up. I didn't want him to tell me to squat before I was ready.

Three comments about that. One, I have been doing some speed work. Two, not squatting in front of a mirror really helped me explode out of whole better. Three, now you know why I thought 370 felt easy.

if you can balance it, you can look up until you are ready. Just a thought.
