Numbers for the bid Deadlift

I am in the process of including this in my leg day workout and since it is not your everyday exercise then I have some simple questions

-Should I start the workout with it?? Or should I wait till I have warmed up with leg presses or squats???

-How many reps for an average lifter (me)?? I heard people say only one, but isnt that just for the powerlifter interested in competing???

For the timing you need to decide how much focus you want to put into your deadlift. If it is going to be a big deal for you then you will want to do it at the beginning of your workout when you are fresh and have more energy. For me, I am not as focused on improving my deadlift so I do it towards the end of my workout.

For reps I would say 5 or 8....when i get into really high reps with them i tend to get light headed.

same here, i get stars in my eye's and sometimes just have to drop the weight. its not often when i go over 6 reps. i breath pretty well when lifting, it just happens in deadlift

here's the thing on Deadlifts if you take a powerlifter approach then you are doing only like 3-4 reps

Many powerlifters don't do more than singles with the deadlift.

For others, I would recommend less than 4 reps.

This has been discussed almost to the point where I see stars.

Also, you posted a question in a powerlifting forum, and then specifically said you don't want to train like a powerlifter.

listen even if you're not a powerlifter does not mean u cant do singles. Also just because u do singles doesnt mean u have to do 100% of 1rm....you can adjust load as u see fit...u can do 10 singles at 80%....and focus on doing perfect rep on each and every set...

I would not go above 5 reps.....form gets sloppy after this point more or less....tweak the % as u see fit....

if your more into bodybuilding then maybe a deadlift isn't really for you. Just some good heavy squats roman dl or somthing.

Alot of pro bbs just do partials or none at all.
