Hi, I am new to this message board. I am 16 in 10th grade and 3 weeks ago I was in my 1st powerlifting meet. I qualified for state which is March 2nd. I have a few questions. Do those bench press shirts really help? We MAX tomorrow at school and need some advice on my starting weight. We get 3 attempts for the follwoing below.

My MAX's:
Bench: 255
Squat: 450- I did 450 at a powerlifting meet and think can get 500 the way we MAX at school (we don't have to break paralle)
Dead Lift: 420

I'm only answering this so you stop posting it over and over again.

A shirt helps, yes, but unless you are a heavyweight, I'd save your money seeing as you are probably going to be wasting money on something that will barely fit for a year.

You're opening lift should be conservative. It should be something you could probably hit for 2-3 clean reps. It should be a perfect rep, and should impress the judges. If your first lift is shaky they will be looking for something to fail you on on your next too attempts. Move the weight from there depending on how you feel.
