I'm about 175 to 180 ectomorph, 5'10.5". I'm squatting upto 255lbs. What is a reasonable goal for my squats. I thought 315lbs but am not sure that it is reasonable. I know we are all different. Has anyone seen someone my size squat this much?

By the way, my stength seems more steady or reliable breaking just past parallel instead of ATG.

more important than laying the bs card, is who cares? What does this have to do with the post?

There should be mandatory criteria that anyone that wants to put numbers up has to provide some kind of proof (video, competition results, etc). I disgard 95% of the squat claims I hear, because 5% seems to be about how many know what parallel means.

Bottom line this post is to answer OP not to lay claims to your own accomplishments...if you're going to do it then at least do it in some meaningful way to the original poster...

2fingers there's no reason why you cant aim for 315 or more....

Well now that back injury is getting WAY Better I have been squatting and a power lifter got me set strait with a bench to correct my forum so I'm in total agreeance <--- is that a word :surprised: with the box squat therey.

I don't actually do a box squat I squat until sac or butt starts to touch the bench then I go up but in general it is telling me I'm in form and it's time to lift!

Before this man helped me he said I was doing then OK but my knees where just a tad past my toes and by setting the bench for me I know have knees over toes but not beyond then.

1 did a whole 135 pounds like a girl  in 4 sets of 8 but I'm getting stronger each leg day :(

295 is quite a bit of weight for a 15 year old at 5'9 amd 165....plus as we said...you may think you're going below parallel but reality may be quite different....just about no1 at my gym squats below parallel....that is all..

IMO that's real bad form, his knees are way out over his feet, his butt should be sat way back more and feet over the toes.

Actually his knees are not that far over( remember each of us is different). And he is doing a normal BB style squat...yes there are a few things he could do a bit better but all in all it shows a good form, at least way better than most at the gym.

I know and for his close stance that is going to happen a bit....it is really not bad from that much, yes he should be back more but really he is doing good.

One must also remember..theres several 'styles' to squat.

A powerlifting squat..is like a combo good morning/ squat...your chest is almost in line with your knees.Bar is set low on the back, butt is pushed back further than normal to get as much power out of the hammies. Goal is slightly below parallel.

Olympic squat bar is placed higher, butt isn't pushed back as far, and you break well below parallel.

bodybuilding squat....could be anywhere inbetween those 2 styles.

Also paralell doesn't can't always mean, theigh to ground. I have big theighs, if thats the case, then i'd be 2in below parallel.

relation ship you should look for is butt/hip to outside of theigh. If that junction forms a right angle...its "parallel' regardless how high the top of the quad is.

Andrew, parallel is defined as when the crease of the top of your thigh falls below the top of your knee. In USAPL they look for you to break this by at least an inch, while WPO only wants it to look like parallel.

And that guy is at least an inch over parallel, at least from the angle I am looking at.

Seems like exact parallel....judging by the bottom of his thigh...if judging by top of thigh he's an inch over parallel..

As for devinm, I don't think squatting 295 lbs for 5 reps is too far out of the question. But what the other guys say is right, make sure you do the squat correctly.
