okay so im trying to lose weight...im 150 and im 5'4, trying to lose 20 pounds. I heard that i should focus on cardio rather than use machines because if i use machines then all my fat will turn into muscle and i'll look "big boned" and not slimmer? but i also heard that i should be doing cardio and use machines. So what should i do? How much of what should i be doing? i know i should focus on cardio..but should i only by focussing on that and later on start with the machines? help plz :|

Who ever gave you the advice that using weights will turn your muscle into fat does not know what they are talking about. Lifting weights will make you look slimmer. A pound of muscle is a lot smaller in size than a pound of fat. Not sure what your current routine is, but I would suggest lifting with weights (total body) at least 3 times per week and supplement with cardio. Focus on the big muscles. You will see much more benefits this way. Post your routine so we know what you are currently doing. Good Luck.

The more resistance training you do the faster your resting metabolic rate will be. That means that you will ultimately burn more calories at rest. Don't slack on the cardio, but definately hit the weights.

Pretty crappy information you were given by your first post. Too bad there is so much of those fallicies that still exist out there. Good you came here so you can find out the truth.
