Did anyone hear about the burger eating contest that took place recently? The same guy who won the hotdog eating contest at Coney Island (I believe 53 and 3/4 hotdogs) also won the burger eating contest. He beat the world record which was 69 burgers and went on to eat 95 officially and 97 unofficially. His name is Takeru Kobayashi. I am also interested to know how the competetors eat so much. Is there some kind of special training involved?

I watched it on TV - Kobayashi has never been beaten by another human. His one loss it to a bear. You would never know by looking at him that he is a food eating champ. He has some nice guns and abs on him. One of the other top competitors is an asian woman (the black widow) who weighs about 125 lbs and she usually finishes 2nd or 3rd.

My husband and I watched it. Kobi didn't look even the least bit sick to his stomach after all that. The runner up started to look sick at # 85. I cannot even imagine what they do to be able to eat so much. They do however dunk the burgers in pink lemonade to make them go down easier. It was nuts!

KC..it was like driving by an accident...we just couldn't change the channel. We did have a discussion afterwards about whether or not we thought pink lemonade hamburgers would taste good. I said no, the hubs said yes.

They use the liquid to make the buns wet then they can swollow them faster. I saw a special on that guy he eats so much for training that he can add 8-10 inches to his stomach after a meal

When I consider the short duration of my life, swallowed up in the eternity before and after, the little space which I fill and even can see, engulfed in the infinite immensity of spaces of which I am ignorant and which know me not, I am frightened and am astonished at being here rather than there; for there is no reason why here rather than there, why now rather than then. Who has put me here? By whose order and direction have this place and time been allotted to me? The eternal silence of these infinite spaces frightens me.

what's more is that he's unlike any other competitive eater....he's shredded and lifts super heavy....i once saw a clip of him doing 500+ lockouts at 140lb.....

there were at least a couple shows about his preparation i believe... he goes to these buffets and empties them out(he ate something like 5 trays of food including 22lb of pasta in this japanese restaraunt in japan)....then doesnt eat for 2-3 days prior to competition....
