Ever since i was a little kid i've wanted to be a friefighter (as you can probably tell from my name).
In Australia its much harder than it sounds they open up for positions every 3-4 years and for the usual 150 spots they open up around 4000 people apply.
This year i applied along with 4500 other people for one of 160 positions. I've made it through 3 rounds of testing and am now in the top tier in the final 500. So now to my question.
The final fitness test is coming up in october, it consists of running to level 9 shuttle 6 of the beep test (last time i did one was about 3 years ago and i got to 11.2, but i was much fitter then) a 15 minute break then 11 tasks that need to be completed in 16 minutes or less.

Is the tasks. For the last 2 weeks i've been swimming everyday, my cardio vascular is pretty shocking though, i know that asking for major results in a month is silly, but just wanted to know what i could expect if im putting everything i have into it? Whether supplements will help at all? And whether i should be doing any training in particular (im focussing mostly on cardio)?
This is my dream so any help would be much appreciated.
Sorry about long post im just nervous

This is just a thought...have you looked into any of the military sites for their training regimends???It's very high in the stamina department.

I applied for military last year and passed the fitness tests there, not as hard as the fire brigade...
I differed for a year so if i dont get the fire brigade will probably end up there

I was looking into this in the states (change of scenery in the carreer area) and the tests is pretty strenious here as well. However when I was checking around I found facilities that you could actually pay and take a dry run of the tests and you could have someone time you and see where you sit on the average. Then you could possibly take that to a trainer and say these are the areas I need to improve on and have them design a workout/cardio program for you to reach your goals.

Good luck and keep at it and I'm sure you'll get there.
