I was wondering how long it would take before muscle strength and size begin to deteriorate. I have not had a chance to follow my steady workout for 1-2 weeks and I was wondering how long muscle strength sustains itself once it has been built.

Strength is affected fairly rapidly, can't put an exact number on it, but sooner than size. But, the good thing is it has "memory" so to speak, so when you get back steady you will see results fairly quickly. Keeping a steady supply of amino acids(high protein, good diet) available to the muscle will do much to curb atrophy.

I lost about 20% of my strength after not consistently working out with weights for 2 months. I've gone a couple of weeks with no problems but my two months of laziness definently took a toll.
