I know stretching is very important in the prevention of injuries...but could one get by with just a quick run-through of stretches? I guess my patience just runs low when I am ready to hit the weights and I've still got to take 15-20 minutes to stretch. Is is worth avoiding injuries....but can I get away with a 10 minute stretch before a workout?
Thanks!

Don't think you're wasting time by stretching! That is a very important and necessary part of working out. I usually stretch for about 15 minutes before each workout. If you don't properly prepare your body for the workload its about to assume, injury will be the result.

Some papers say to limit stretching to warm-up exercise such as biking to get the blood flowing and warm up the muscles. Excessive stretching before lifting especially heavy lifts with legs can lead to loose joints that are prone to injury. The best joint is tight but with good blood flow.
