Starting Day

Today is the day im supposed to start.

I am 6ft 290. My ultimate goal is to get down to 160.  I would like to be at least 100lbs thinner by this time next year. I have been battling with my weight since childhood. It never bothered me before. Since graduating from college, i've gained at least 50 pounds. This is due to inactivity. While my diet was poor during undergrad, I had no car so i was walking to and from campus, biking around, etc.

ive been payng for my gym membership for the last 8 months and havent gone in a single time. The gym is a 15 mintue drive from home.

I know its what needs to be done. My biggest, i guess i wanna say anger, is that i feel so genetically f*cked. I keep thinking it isnt fair that Ive always been on the bigger side and have alot more to loose than most people i see at the gym. Its as if they have a headstart. Loosing 20lbs vs 100.

We shall see how this goes. I will check back in tonight

You have a better chance of success if you approach this as a complete lifestyle change. If you don't loose a hundred pounds in a year [which is very doable] it's okay if it takes 2. It is much more important to think in terms of 10, 20, 40 years though. Try to find exercise you like. You're more likely to stick to it. Research proper eating. Diet [not dieting] is the most critical aspect of weight control. Lose the weight and fitness endeavors become much easier. You will be amazed how much easier each 20 lbs of weight loss makes just in moving your body around. Good luck.
