I know what it takes to lose weight and keep it off, but lately I have had the hardet time sticking to my normally healthy lifestyle. I can go for weeks eating healthy and excersizing and then all of a sudden one day I just start to binge, and eat horribly. I just can't seem to stay focused! Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to stay focused on a healthy lifestyle?

Allow yourself occasional cheat meals? Is it that you deprive yourself of things you really like or maybe you aren't eating enough calories on a daily basis? Your body will force you to get thos calories one way or another.

What are your goals? Why?

Whay do you eat on a 'healthy' day?

On a typical day I eat 6 egg whites and a piece of dry toast for breakfast then I have a protein shake for lunch and for dinner I have grilled chicken, brocolli, and half a yam. I try not to eat anything thats "bad", cause I feel too guilty after eating it.
My ultimate goal is to lose 20 more pounds and keep a healthy lifestyle.

What Asimmer said is true for me!

When I diet and do it long term my body forces me to refeed itself.

At this point I feel best to just listen to my body and as long as I hit my protien intake and stay in a range of calories I do just fine, most days stay the same and some times they go 100 to 200 more calories a day higher and some days they are on a low end.

I thing that has stuck in my head FINALY and that's the body is smarter then we give it credit for.

If your maintanance level say is 2300 this does not mean you have to eat 2300 every single day, it means at least to me to hit that as an average weekly or every 5 days.

You can and should Zig Zag your calorie intake so that you don't force your body to eat more then it want's and also can feed it more when it asks for it.

As long as I hit my protien intake I'll always be around the calorie needs for my daily!

Best example I can give is this, I just switched from a 4 day lifting back to a 3 day and on them 3 days my body wants more food and on cardio days it wants less and on off days even few calorie.

This is not a Professional answer but it's what I have discovered for myself as of lately!

You aren't eating poorly, just not enough to allow your body to function. Add in some oatmeal instead of the toast, a snack between breakfast and lunch (maybe some walnuts and 1/2c lowfat cottage cheese), or have the protein shake as snakc and eat a veggie and chicken slald at lunch, you could even have a little rice ro a few rye crisp crackers, Your dinner looks good, but again, I would add a small snack between lunch and dinner - maybe a few almonds and an apple, or a stick of string cheese and some veggies.

Your body needs the fiber and nutrients from vegetables - you can add those in pretty much limitless amounts and your weight loss will be easier.

When you aren't eating enough and you are hungry all the time, your body will hoarde what it has, holding onto fat, storing any incoming food as fat for the current starvation, and finally by tearing down muscle tissue, which is expensive and requires more food. this process slows your metabolism, which is the opposite of what you want.

Give yourself the permission to eat enough and the weight should come off once tyour body has stabilized (though that takes time in and of itself). eat for your health, try to get in nutrient dense foods, try to nourish yourself.

I had the same issue for awhile. I wouldn't eat or drink anything bad, but now I decided to eat better but not deprive myself of the things I like. But when I do, I just consume them in moderation. The way I look at it, if I was drinking beer every day, then only drinking a few on the weekends is an improvement :)
