Welcome to the Running Group.  I hope that as we start this baby, it will increasingly grow into a fully functional group. Please feel free to leave a message saying hi to others and let us know a little about yourself.

I can't wait to get this up and running, so if there is any specific information you would like to know, please feel free to leave a message, start a topic, etc.

Good Luck!

Hi,
I am kinda new to this site and I am not sure I like the changes they have made here but I am trying to become better at running.  I am seriously challenged at it and need to be able to gete my mile and a half time down at least.  I have been using the treadmill and eliptical for a little while now and usually do about 25-30 minutes on it.  I have not been consistant due to work and other things.  Mainly just excuses not to do it!  I am just looking for encouragement, advice and whatever else may help.  Thanks!  Also diet tips if you have any.

Hey there, new to the site. Over 40. Started running again a year ago, its been a challenge, but one I haven't failed to meet. Its not as easy as it was when I was younger.
Challenges are eating right combinations to steer off hunger and starvation mode in response to running and resistance training,  as well as losing that final 10-15 pounds to lighten the load on my joints. I've come a long way but feel as though I have even longer to go to reach my goals.

Hi! I'm new here, but not new to running. I've been sidelined off and on for the last 18 months with knee problems. They've both been scoped last year, torn meniscus in one and cartilage in the other. I've been back to weight training and some running. Trying to out together a program to get ready for a 12k in May.

Hi, I started trail running a couple of years ago and competed for the first time 10 months ago in a mountain 9km. I've found it hard to train regularly and am signed up for a tough 27km event at the end of May this year. So far my longest run has been 16kms.
I;m also hoping to get a bit of muscle back on my upper body to give me a bit more balance.

Tried trail running, thinking it would be easier on my bad foot; it wasn't :( Back to the road and treadmill!

Hey Ewright, that's great, just be cautious of your injuries and treat them properly while in training.  Start out slowly and don't overdo it. Good luck!

Just joined FT. I have been an on/off runner over short distances for years. Living near a beatiful range of hills got me out exploring and then running. Getting used to steep and rocky trails after roads took a bit of adjustment, but now I've done my first trail race and determined to do another. I have to motivate myself to get out there and increase my distance to be sure I can complete the 27km target for the end of May.
Is there any way I can record my running on FT?

Hi! I'm in my 50s and have been running most of my adult life. I love distance running so much; I never feel quite as happy as I do pounding out the miles outside! I also do weight training and core work three times a week and swim once a week.

As I've gotten older, I've learned to maybe not run as fast as I want to, as my IT Bands start hurting, so I have to go a ltitle slower, but I still get the mileage in. Running rules!

Hi! There may be a couple things going on....first, maybe you're running too fast. Slow down your pace and try to keep your breathing steady. One-two-three in....one-two-three out....

Also, don't eat for at least one or two hours before you run. I have to wait two hours if I eat a meal. I can have a shot block while I run, but not much else, so watch waht you eat before you run. :)
