Start Weight (3/4/12): 200
Today's Weight (3/11/12): 192

That seems big. I'm working on getting a more accurate scale that will show tenths of a pound but this still seems like a lot to have lost. Is it because it's the first week? Water weight?

--- the first week always gets people extremely motivated. and the second week usually makes people less motivated. I've seen a lot of people actually gain weight the second week because of the amount lost that first week. just keep your head up and push through it.

As a nurse in my unit we look weigh daily and look at the weekly trend...so if you weigh daily look at the trend. Also remember inches count as much as weight. Good luck on your Journey.we are here to support you.

Hi, I'm Yogi22 and I weigh 276 I'm 22. I used to be on weight watchers for a year and I was successful I was able to go down to 234. But I decided to stop the program because I was dealing with a lot of family issues. Over the course of 2 years I gained all the weight back :( and now I'm in a good place to really focus on my health and get back on track! My goal would definitely to loose 100lbs!! Lol

I did not get on the scale for a like 3 days, since I know that I been eating too many calories. I was afraid to get on this morning, but I knew I had to. I have been working out, but not watching what I eat.( I went to a B-day party and out of town. )

Today's weight in-

I guess I only lost .5 of a pound this week. I hope it gets better next week. :(

Hi,
My name is Kendyl. I have always been overweight. I want to loose weight by summer. I have already lost 10 pounds in the last month. I want to be able to go to summer camp and feel good about how I look. Loosing weight would also help strengthen muslces and make my knees stop popping. I am on the SlimFast diet and jog daily.

Hi! Came back from my vacation the 12th with the scale flashing 194.2!!! Ouch!
Back down to 190.6... I was recently out of the 190's and was pretty excited! So close! By this time next week, I should be back where I was before I left for Jamaica which will be pretty nice! Down the scale hill from here.

HI I'm Sue.
I suffered for 35 years with an eating disorder before getting treatment in 2000. I ballooned over time from 133lbs to 322 lbs as wasnt allowed to diet or do any exercise that would lead back to the compulsive disorders for 5 years.
I was depressed, banished mirrors and ate to feel better, felt worse and lazed my way to the top weight  through depression. Have managed to get down to 288lbs in the last 12 months as my health was affected - high blood pressure, border line type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol.
My progress has to be slow as I know it will be all to easy to go to my old ways of starving, binging/purging or over exercising.
My first goal is 273lbs as I know I am going to have to motivate myself with lots of smaller more achievable goals I aim to be there by July 7th. That way I know I have to lose 1 lb a week. Will be very happy to get there before that.

Daily weigh in 140. Stck here at the moment. Plan to get in gear with the warmer weather. Found out I weigh 2 pounds more on Mon. after working then on Friday before work.  It seems 4 - 5 hours sleep does not allow proper rest, and stable caloric state. I will try to weigh on Fridays and see what happens. TTFN

Hello, I'm new to the site. This group seems like it would certainly help me stay accountable. I do weigh myself every morning, I know some would say its a bad habit but I find that it keeps me focused and pushes me in the right direction. I don't get to crazy about the day-to-day numbers and totally understand that it can fluctuate.

So today I weighed in at 179.0 lbs.

--- Thank you!  The warmer weather is a motivation in itself ins't it?!  I always think Wednesdays are a good weigh in day.  Far enough from the weekend should we have slipped...  How I dream of the day that I have 140 staring back at me on the scale!  keep at it and good luck!

I HAVE A QUESTION

I started my weight loss journey by just cutting back on calories.  I am 5'3'' and weighed 194 lbs (I weigh in at 185 today).  I am on a 1200 calorie a day plan where I add calories in food to compensate for calories lost with physical activity (which was not a whole lot of physical activity in the begining).  I would lose on average 1 or more pounds a day sometimes.

I now still do the same calories but do a lot more on the physical activity end.  I walk 5 days a week for 30 minutes at about 3 MPH.  Once or twice a week I go for a 60 minute walk at the same pace.  I weight train every second day while alternate with upper body and lower body + abs.  I do 3 exercises per body part in 3 sets (12-10-8 reps) with 10 lbs weights.

Since I do this, my average weight loss is about 0.2 to 0.5 pounds a day...  I am very conscious that muscle weighs more than fat and that I should not just depend on the scale to confirm my progress which I don't (I take mesurements once a week).

So my question is this.  My muscle gain is higher than my fat loss at this point.  How long before balance switches (fat loss is more than muscle gain) and that I can read more encouraging numbers on the scale?

Thanks for your input!

I can't believe it! I tried a 'detoxifying' body wrap last night at a party my friend hosted and I am totally shocked at the results.

Waist before wrap - 33"
Waist after wrap - 31"

Upper hips before wrap (belly button) - 38'
Upper hips after wrap - 36"

Mid hips before wrap - 37"
Mid hips after wrap - 35"

A total of 6" after wearing the wrap for 12 hours, and, apparently this wrap continues to work 72 hours after it's been removed too so more inches could disappear in that time frame. This is definitely the motivation I needed to keep my butt in gear, off to the gym I go.

Hi group. My name is DeeDee. I am weighing in this week at 251 lbs. I am doing a 30 minute work out 3 days a week right now. After I get more comfortable with the work out  I plan to start working out 5 days a week. I am hoping to lose about 70 lbs overall and can't wait to start working on getting healthy.

I lost about 9.5 this month. I hope I can keep losing at the same rate, but even if it slows down I’m sticking to it for at least 6 months. My 1st goal is 130lbs, but I will set more goals once I reach this one
week 1
149 to 145.5

week 2
145.5 to 144.2

week 3
144.2 to 141.8
week 4
141.8 to 139.5
I’m checking in 1 day earlier for week 4 because I could really see & feel the weight loss. Yesterday, I went to get my eyebrows waxed & while I waited I picked up a magazine that had 3 weight loss success stories. All of them stuck to their diet & exercise for at least 6 months. I want to at least stick to it for 6 months before giving up hope like in the past.

Hi All,

My name is Nicki and I am a 28 yr. old stay at home mother of 3 boys. The heaviest I've been is 190 lbs. and I definitely do not want to go back there again. It would seem like I have all the time in the world to lose weight, but believe me I don't.

Goals:

My goal is not only to lose, but to strengthen and tone at the same time. So I know that calls for adding some muscle. My idea goal is 135 lbs., but my curent goal is 150 lbs. and depending on how I look at 150 lbs. will let me know if I should go further or stay where I am.

Measurements:

Height = 5'10 3/4
Weight = 175 lbs
Bust = 39 in
Under Bust = 32.5 in
Waist = 36.5 in
Lower Tummy =3 7 in
Hips = 42 in
Thighs = 24.5 in
Calves = 15 in
Arms = 12 in

So weight loss journey here I come.

I am 51 years old and need to lose weight for my health. I have always battled weight issues and been up and down on the scale. However, the older I get the harder it has become to lose the weight that I have gained.

My doctor has strongly encouraged me to lose weight for my health because of my family history of strokes and diabetes.

My goal is to lose 60 lbs. by the end of 2012 by changing my life style to incorporate healthy choices in regards to nutrition and exercise.

In addition, it is important that I can do this without having to pay a lot of money.

Currently weigh 213 lbs. at 5'2".

hi, where to start, well i so need to loose weight at present im 190.4 lb, but need to get down to 131 lb, i turned to food after my partner died, yes i know no excuse but up untill parents evening it never bothered me, then my son got teased, his mom was a beached whale, fatty, and all the other nasty words they could think of, thats when i decided to get some scales, and boy did i have a shock, thats when i decided i need to look at myself in the mirror and start to take care of myself, my curves have disapeared and the double chin and gravity have taken over.  I used to not worry but now its made me realise, do something about it or bascially die,(harsh i know, but i have to be), so thats my story and why i need to loose weight, not just for my health, but for my children as well

Hi guys,

I've been away for a little while (broken laptop, flu, etc) but I am excited to catch up with what I have been missing out on.  I realise that never really lose much weight when I make real effort, but I am definitely feeling the benefits of working out & eating properly. I am stronger, more agile with more energy and for once I am looking forward to a beach holiday this summer. The weightloss will come in time but my body shape has changed for the better and I am so much more toned.
So what have I missed out on aside from the wonderful new members? Hello by the way!

---Hi Isabel,
Thanks for sharing your story (thats a big story too!), I presume that cannot have been the easiest thing to do. The main thing is that you have found something that is encouraging you to want to take better care of yourself; thats a great thing for you and your son. You will get so much support and information here which I can vouch is a wonderful tool to spur you on through your journey, especially on days when you are not feeling so 'in the zone'. Stay strong & do your best!

Daily weight-141
gained 1.5 pounds...

goal 130

highest weight- 189lbs in 2009

I do not know how this happened, but I have gained like 1.5 pounds since Tuesday. Anyways I know I should not weight myself daily, but it makes me reflect on what I'm doing wrong. I know that I'm eating a lot of carbohydrates because I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I have been drinking more water now. I do keep my calories low. I been walking about 5 miles every day for the last 10 days and not getting enough sleep. I'm trying my best not to get discouraged. My clothes fits better overall, but I just want to get to 130. Anyways, I’ll see how the rest of the week goes. I do feel physically and mentally better overall.

wow iv been doing this for one week and im so shocked, the hardest bit is changing my diet, with the kids as well all i seem to hear is, dont like that, whats for desert, why cant you cook normal food.  Im now going to the gym every morning and come the evening im in the swimming pool, iv never liked fish but today made salmon parcels which were mouth watering, tomorrow is crab spagetti, my whole life seems so much better im not getting out of breath walking up the hill, (and anyone whos been to cornwall in the uk, will know there are no straight roads). and even walking up the stairs feels so much easier, i can honestly say im proud of myself.
