So this week I have been good and done walking for 30 minutes daily at a minimum. My question is, when walking today I noticed pain in my shin during the workout and after the workout. Currently I am icing my shin. Is this normal? My daily activities have been simply walking and going to work. I work at a call center. Thanks for your advice guys. I'm a college student.

I don't thijk shin pains are normal. A 30 minute walk should be pretty normal without the need to ice your shins. I suggest you ask your family doctor is there is a reason to be worried, if you should take it easy for a while, or if it could be something completely unrelated.

Daily checkin: 55min on the crosstrainer. I'm finally starting to notice serious improvements in my stamina since i started. Feeling great!

Day 1
Goals:
- doing core exercises with free weights and/or in home exercise work-out every day :  Done
- doing NIA dance training for at least 30 minutes five times a week  :   was a little optimistic here & need to build up to 30                                                                                                                        minutes first!!!  I did do 20 minutes today.
- meditation daily for at least 15 minutes  Done
- eating healthier; focusing on fruits and veggies :  Done, though I did cheat a little & ate a bit of ice cream since we were
eating at an all you can eat buffet... eesh. Also, I need to add drinking more water to this goal.

- lose 40 lbs by Memorial Day (which is a doable 2.4 lbs per wk)  weigh in today- 40 lb weight loss goal is just as I figured                                                                                                                                                                                                                 it should be
all in all- a very good day

Hi Everyone
Due to chronic fatigue I have ben out of the loop.I realized that my lofty fitness goals have to be scaled down.Otherwise,I can fade out and quit. So,I am going to go for a daily walk 4 times a week for 20 minutes to build up my stamina. Then, once I get strong with  consistent walks,I can upgrade my fitness goals.SO today I enjoyed a 40 minute walk to the library as it was a beautiful day here in Vancouver. And I felt better after even though it was tiring.Hopefully, everyone else is doing well
Cheers

I've been on holidays for the last 5 days, so I don't really have much to check in.  For sure I did a lot of walking, but it was also offset by a lot of eating out and drinking wine, so overall it wasn't a very healthy few days.  Time to get back to the program.

So I have been doing really good. Until today I have kept up my end of the bargain by walking 60 minutes a day, or walking 30 minutes a day and exercising 30 minutes a day. Today I still need to do my workout. I am trying to work out at least once a week. I have been eating more junk food lately and not sleeping as much but I am working on that.

Daily check-in, 52 minutes on the crosstrainer. I ate too much today though so i don't feel so great, but at least i got the workout in! It definitely helps having a crosstrainer at home, in front of the TV 😊

Hmmmm it seems that checkins have slowed down considerably since January. I guess this was to be expected. no matter, here is mine ☺

50min on the crosstrainer.

I haven't  been doing my resistance workouts lately so I will need to get that going again.

Hi I walked only twice this week as I am struggling with health issues that seem to be taking priority. But I know that walking is important even when I don't feel like it.I'm glad this forum is here and I will do my best to maintain my check ins.
I wonder what others may be going thru that makes them drop out or fade away.

I hope you can keep this up.  I have found countless reasons to not work out, or to "give up" without actually thinking that I was giving up.  I'm too tired, my knee hurts, my other knee hurts (I've had 2 knee operations in the past 2 years), I have other stuff to do tonight, etc. etc...  The truth is, it's not easy to keep up a training program, especially if you don't enjoy it.  I used to be driven by the results of my body transformation back when I was in my late teens, so I didn't need any kind of motivation.

Now, it seems that working out is a chore, so I DO need motivation.  The most motivating thing for me is feeling the progress that I've made on the crosstrainer - being able to go on it at a pretty high level for 45min to 1hr, when just 2 months ago I was out of breath after 10 minutes.  The motivation is not in how much better I am now, it's the thought of how bad I was before.  It's scary to think that most people are how I was 2 months ago, or worse, and are not doing anything about it.

I really hope that people can manage to put aside their reasons for not training and get back with the program.

Yes,I agree Adrian. I will not give up as I don't like the version of me that feels unhealthy and I know exercise is the golden key to health and longevity.
Today, was a sunny day and I did my 20 minute walk around the lake, feels good.
Thanx for reminding us of our commitment :)

i slacked off last week. Seem way to easy to say i will do it later and then a week passes and you've done nothing. So I am forcing myself to get back to my schedule.
!5 min ellipitcal and at home workout done. It seem so much harder today, but I know it was my fault for skipping a week.

Sorry I have been MIA,

I have been holding my own but not being vigilant.

Mon feb 22/I worked 12 hr shift today which gives me the opportunity to be physically active, with young people I work with , so a walk for an hour , and basketball (which I suck at but try lol) after work I went to the gym and used the elliptical For 30 minutes and did two rounds of e strength training equipment ,happy I have finally started .
Will check into tomorrow ...so tired right now...

Tuesday cardio

Wednesday cardio and at my weekly wi gained .8 after 4 weeks ... So pleased at not having lost too much ground ...plan on having a loss for next Wednesday.

Thursday plan on 2 rounds of st and an hour cardio, stepper/ elliptical and treadmill combination
Followed through with the cardio plan however fell short on the st plan mainly because I allowed some make me feel lesser than I am , yeah I know stupid.

Friday I will follow through on my st plan today and mix my cardio up. I am feeling better and stronger since the new year and as my job is so much easier when I am physically active ..I see huge improvements with that lol will check back when I follow through .
Followed through did my st and cardio as planned

So, we have a few more people checking in again! I'm glad to see that! Great stuff guys, jb40pasty, bubblemagic, angelsnow.

Here is my check-in for today: 47 minutes on the crosstrainer, early morning before work.  I managed to keep it on level 6 and 7 all the way through the workout without going over 160bpm, so I'm still making steady improvements.

Great to see everyone checking in!

I feel bad, I haven't trained since my last check-in :-(  I was busy working and working on the site in my free time, adding a much needed google+facebook login option for new users, and in doing so I have managed to neglect my fitness requirements.  Tomorrow I will be going skiing all day, so that should at least be a nice workout.

Hope to post better check-ins next week :-)

So finally, a proper check-in.  A day of skiing!
In total it was probably about 4 hours of skiing.  My legs are really sore now, so it must have been a good workout 😄

Sorry to hear about your breakup! I'm glad you're focusing on exercise though - it's very hard to see it slipping away from you after you had it in control for so long.

My check-in...  45min on the crosstrainer. This weekend was also not too bad, a lot of outdoor walking.
