Does noone over 40 train? I rarely if ever see a post in this forum. I am sure all men and women over 40 aren't curling up and dying! Life is just getting good.

There's very little info that doesn't pertain to all ages so I guess it gets used very little. I'm starting to think that we have a lot of lurkers that don't post for whatever reason. I guess the info gets passed either way but the're definitely all welcome.

Yup... I am a 44 year old female. I've been training on and off for about 3 years. Started back about a year ago after an auto accident in 2001. Motiviation just starting to kick in again. I always do better in the winter than the summer. My muscles are pretty strong they're just hidden behind the 40+ fat cells. My body fat is 21.9% and it all seems to be in my arms and love handles.

My goal for May is to have a body similiar to that of Madonna. This woman has an awesome lean yet muscular body....

Hey - I too am 44 (Geri) and seem to have the same dilemma. I work my arms mostly but they still look like "nada" so I guess its time to work out cardio big time...I guess or I'm maybe prone to blah arms. There seems to be no signs of definition unless I do a pose - ha like bb1fit up there in his profile. I just lost my job (for the life of me - unjustly!) SO, with looking for a job, getting some microsoft training I'm going to really get into some body sculpting. Gotta try to look up versus down!

Keep working those arms, and developing the entire bicep and tricep muscle. Do not try to get too specialized with them, full compound exercises will hit the entire muscles. Then when you are losing fat,(your cardio will help there), the definition will show!

Well, I did not place in the top 5 in my competition. This competition is one of the top 5 in the country drug free. It was a real step up in competition for me. I am not using any excuses, I felt I was in the best shape of my life, and I held my own. It has done nothing but strengthen my reslove to get and do beter. I am going to compete again in May, as is my wife. We are even going to do a pairs in at least one of them going to do 2 shows. I am now going to work to be a bigger better version of what I was Saturday. Thanks to all who wished me luck. Never give up. Your goals and dreams are there. Just keep working for them.

43 here. Having a great time and love working out. Suggestion: Kill the over 40 chat and start an over 50 chat instead. Damn I feel old when it's 40 and over. lmao

It would really be a no post area with an over 50 chat!! :>} Keep having a great time and working out. I personally don't feel any different at 50 than I did at 40! I am still healthy and having a great time. I love this stuff. The health benefits are by far and away the number one thing.

Your attitude really is inspiring. I think that you got it right when you said
"never give up" It is awesome that you and your wife are both into body building. I
think that it is great that you and your spouse have a shared interest like this.

I am not a body builder, just trying to loose weight and gain mussel. This FT is really
helping me. So far I have lost 14 lbs. and am gaining a lot of strength back. (Which I
need) I am a meat cutter for a small meat market and have to lift up to 100 pound
cases of meat every day. It was starting to kick my butt since I have a bad back
anyway. Well getting muscle back is helping a lot!

I am 45 and have come to realize that working out is going to have to be a life time
thing. I can't wait until I can say that "I am in the best shape of my life"
I wish I had started years ago.
May is just a few months away keep up with that great attitude and you'll make it.
Way to go!

43 is not old, especially because your working out. Now if you sat on your butt and became a couch potato I could see how a person might feel old.Burn that couch! lol

I was just kidding Tinaraye, I don't feel old. It's the statement of "over 40" that sounds old. I actually feel great because I work out. Less stress and healthy overall. I'm going to keep this up as long as I'm physically able. The bennies are just too great to ignore.

Take care and thanks for the encouragement!

Tinaraye: Thanks so much for the kind words. It is nice to get positive feedback. Best of luck in your "meat cutting evdeavors"! LOL...you will do fine, sounds like you are making great progress. I don't know if you know this or not, posted it in other areas, but my wife is 42. She is a diabetic, and started training. She lost an entire person. 93 + pounds. Now she is in the best health of her life, no insulin, no pills, no nothing, and is bodybuiding! Never give up!

WOW, that is amazing. I am glad to hear your wife is doing so well. Please tell her that I said congratulations.
I am a borderline diabetic, my dad and sister both have it and I sure don't want to go there. The Doc. said it was up to me and to start eating better.

Well I am, and have cut out all of the junk, but I still not eating as much as I should.
I am afraid of gaining weight. I wish that I could be a fly on your kitchen wall for a week and see what and how you and your wife are eating.

I do have a list of the good foods here. I guess that I am not to creative in putting a meal together. lol I will figure it out somehow.
I am hoping that the eating better and the workouts will get my husband motivated.
He has had 2 heart attacks since April and I really worry about him. He is doing great now but needs some serious changes in his life.
Thank you for being here and such an inspiration.

I plan on enjoying the transformation and keeping in shape from there on out. I am on my way.:) I am glad that your here DP.
It is nice to meet you.

I'm a 58 year old female. Started exercising the beginning of april this year. Have lost 40 lbs and 4 dress sizes and feel oh so good. I've been following this site so I have you to thank. Been mixing cardio with weights. Now I'm turning my focus to building more muscle mass. Just switched from your toning and weight loss program to your muscle building program. Any thoughts you would want to share with me on the switch would be appreciated. I do notice that most of the exercises are with free weights and a few with barbells. Hardly any use the gym equipment I have access to. I registered stating I have access to everything. Why don't I see more variety in my workouts??
Thanks again for guiding me to my new self.

One thing about this age gunk.........how many times do you go....now how old am I? I friggen forget from time to time! Like is that a sign of old age or what? Like I remember my mom getting mys sisters and mine names goofed up. Thank God I have one kid. Or...crap...have you ever came out of the mall, grocery and said...now where did I park my car...(I need a remote that shouts....hey fool, I'm over here....) and ALWAYS, AAAAAAAAALLLWAYS.....I start off to get something....or do something and forget what it was I was doing......or getting.......JUST SOME OF DA TIME - but you know....signs of the age thing. Then...I look in the mirror...and the wrinkle creams aren't working too good :o) - I'm playing....but ya know...what I mean eh?

Smithjls...Glad I get the opportunity to answer this one and sure others will follow.
We are serious with regards to our weight training diets etc, just like you are. Let me appologize on behalf of all
of us here, as I think your post was overlooked.
I think the word "Segregation" has really disappeared in that sense,
most if not in all cases.
With regards to your above post, congradulations in your achievments and please, remember we all like to have fun.
As far as equipment that is covered in the program, you would have to vary on the equipment.
Hope this helps and again sorry for the overlook.

45 and still alive n kickin' Martial arts training 5-6 times a week. The only reason I need a cane is for weapon training lol. Kung Fu has put me in the best shape of my life, but I decided that wasn't good enough! Maybe it will never be enough. I can always improve something, you know? This is my first week, everything hurts, and I like it!

YES! Loosely translated, kung fu means to do something (anything)well, the best that you can. If you trained the mind properly at the higher levels in the art, this should apply to everything you do in your life. So, now for the "kung fu" of fitness training!

"Make savage the body, civilize the mind".
