Yes I started a 1200 calorie diet like I try to eat things that are low in sodium and sugars and things like that cholrestrial being the big one and low in calorie. I eat 6 times a day 3 good size meals and then 3 small ones usualy like a apple an low fat yogurt but generaly this is what I eat during the day

Breakfast: scrambled eggs, toast and peanut butter with a glass of skim milk
Lunch: Baked Potato, with tuna and carrots with chives
Dinner: Rice with some type of red meat and green beans or some other types of greens.

Every 3-4 hrs I will have a yogurt and an apple or orange and a piece of marble cheese.

I was wondering if this is a good source of diet I am on.
Because I work out all during the day basicaly, from 5:30am- 6:30am I go walking/ jogging then I go to work at 7 am and all day Im lifting heavy boxes generaly any wheres from 50 pounds to 100 pounds so I try to push myself while Im at work and use it for a work out, I get home at 5 pm I get home from work I go walking again then I work out with my own weights (10- 25lbs)for half hour an then I do some type of either yoga or kick boxing....

Im wondering am I doing things right?

1200 calories sounds pretty low for the meals you describe. Have you figured your basal metabolic rate? Google it and figure that.

I feel as though you're not getting enough complex carbs. I'd personally get rid of the potato & the rice replace them with salads & veggies. I'd also get rid of the yogurt, too much sugar swap it out for cottage cheese (lowfat), or some tuna. Good rule of thumb is to always eat a carb with a protein EVERY time (meals & snacks alike.)
Good snacks: either an apple or pear & cottage cheese or string cheese.

How many scrambled eggs are you talking about & are you using the entire egg? Try 1 whole 3 whites scrambled & get plain oatmeal instead of the toast, toss a teaspoon of all natural PB in it if need be.

I usualy have 2 egg whites, I can't eat cottage cheese for some odd reason it gives me heart burn that why I eat low fat yogurt. I eat salads all the time usualy I mix my dinner up with either a salad, rice or some kinda pasta everyday I try to do something different because if I stay to one specific thing I get sick of it an fall off the diet train ha. My snacks are usualy apples or oranges and cheese. Like I always try to eat something with something I always have veggies with meat its like my golden rule an like with potato or rice ( rice generaly like 1/2 cup) and a small potato so yah like if it's a good thing to cut it out then I shall but I dont want to start cutting things out of my diet and result in screwing myself over and not have enough of what I need in my diet to help me loose weight and gain muscle yah know what I mean....

Hi shawnaellsworth,

I think ebabe is right in saying you need more complex carbs - but don't rely only on veggies and salds - use them as fillers and include whole grains in your diet like oatmeal, brown rice and barley, add in sweet potatoes or yams, and the occasional baked potato is fine (I eat a baked potato every Monday night, tuesday night and wednesday night :)).

There is a good diet plan in one of the forums - the thread is called the WSSC food plan - look for it and it wil give a good idea of how much you can eat while still losing bodyfat.

It sounds like you could alsmot double your meal amounts and get better results - your body will store fat if it isn't getting enough calories.

Shawn... you will see results at first with that few cals, but it wont last long. Asimmer is right you need more cals. You wont see results as fast in the start but once your body regulates and knows it is not starving. When it is convinced that you will put more nutrients in soon it will start shedding fat faster than you are now. Believe me it does work!
