Thanks for the info, I was curiuos about getting into competition shape as well...but I decided against it since I have had issues with food before and I don't want to slip back into unhealthy habbits.

My trainer keeps suggesting that I try competing... while it is something that I am interested in, I'm not sure that I'm ready.

There is a competition in my area in 6 weeks, which he thinks I could be ready for.

My body fat in July was 20.5%, after 6 weeks training with him I'm down to 17.4%. My diet is pretty clean but I do have a cheat day on the weekends.

Do you think it's even possible? What would I have to do to get ready?

At 17.4%, with 6 weeks to lose enough fat to compete I would venture to guess that your chances are quite unrealistic at this point. I would wait and give yourself more time...forced fat loss at a high rate to meet a deadline usually leads to disastrous results.(lots of muscle loss to meet a deadline). First time out, give yourself 12-16 weeks, with 16 weeks being optimal.

Thanks, that's the realistic answer that I needed!

So for a figure competitor, what is a good bf %?

What is the realistic amount of time to prep for a competition? I am currently a trainer and have beening thinking about doing a competion but I will admit I don't know much about the dieting that is involved in it. Current build female 5'5 18% bf age 26. Can you help give me a time frame and maybe adive on were to find info on diet plan?
Thanks

I have also been considering starting to train for a fitness competition. It would probably be 4 months before I would be ready but it's something I've always wanted to try. However, I have some tattoos. Do fitness competitors ever have them or is there a way to cover them up?

You can use body make up or just let them be, if they aren't too big, by the time you are stage-tanned they won't be that noticable.

For first competitions, and maybe even all of them, be prepared to diet for at least 12-16 weeks, depending on your bodyfat and conditioning.

The WSSc food plan is a figure competitor pre-comp diet - you could start there and se ehow your body responds.

You really need to know your bodyfat/lean mass, so you know where you are starting and how much work you have to do.

If you have picked a com-petition - plan to diet for 12-16 weeks, depending on your initial level of bodyfat.

The diet you listed looks like a pre-comp diet and is similar to the WSSC diet.

You might use the above diet but on days 6&7 cut out the rice and oats, eating veggies instead at those meals - then on day 1 of the next week add in some fruit and additional rice/otas for a higher calorie and carb day, this will zigzag your calories and carbs so your metabolism should keep revving.
