I just want to say what it takes is drive! A no excuses attitude. I have been big all my life I am down to 365 from 396 2 years ago. I have always remained active weather it be riding my bicycle or just walking. All the time on TV you see theese people saying I was 300 plus pounds and I couldnt get off the couch or this or that. Sorry to be insensitive to some but I say bs! Your mind set has you traped on the couch. Even at 396 I was able to pedal my rear end off to work in under 45 minutes. It was a six mile trek with allot of hills. It takes drive the unwillingness to give in tenacity indominable spirit. I take this edict with me everywhere in my life try your hardest and dont give up!! When I was in High school my football couch told us something when we were being a bunch of whiners. That has helped me persevere. And everyone feel free to use it lol your mind will always quit before your body will!! SO when your tired and sore or think you cant do something tell yourselves this. Clear your mind and stay in the game, only good things will come. I have a challenge to the whole world even though I have diabetes(since age 14) and now come to find out heart complications from it. Just try to keep up with me! If you think you have the intensity. Now we have our code drive on with our mission and persist and maintain. Love you all M.Maibohm

Nice attitude to have man! I think, as a big guy like you, that most people do not see us big people as people. When you hear the word fat, slob, lazy etc are not far behind. I love this forum it will be a great help to others. You keep trucking!:dumbbell:

I am a 15 yearold male that is in high school. I am 235 pounds and am 5'7. I was up to 250 pounds by the end of 8th grade and in a size 44 pants. I walked 3.5 miles a day 5 times a week and just watched what i ate the whole summer and i lost 25 pounds and 6 pant sizes. But being back in school i am up to 235. I hate when people call me the fat kid. I try so hard i devote my self to giving it my all so no one can say im fat and lazy. Well im not lazy im just fat i wear a size 38 pants. I am a really active kid i play basketball, football, handball, and bowling. I strive to be the best. In gym we ran the mile in the begging of the year and i got a time of 13 min and 24 sec (the worst in the class) I have worked and worked on trying to beat that time and guess what i just ran it and got 10 min and 41 sec  but i am still fat. Oh yeah and in sixth grade i didnt dress out 43 times b/c i didnt want anyone to see me. My boobs i would probly say are a nice B and im a guy. I cant get rid of them or my love handles or my tummy or my thighs and under arm flab. I need help. If anyone has any names of pills or shakes that work please let me know i wanna be in a size 32 or 34 bye the end of this summer so i have a ways to go still. thanks :)

all pills and shakes work as long as you follow a correct diet plan in line with what the package says the pill does. So was it the pill or was it your new lifestyle that made the change? The pill is a psychological weapon against your own negativity. Think like mmaibohm, bb, mutt etc.... and you will succeed in the goals you make preppy. Oh and be patient as your goals are longterm maybe lifetime and not silly like ''I want to lose 14 pounds by June.''

14 pounds and 2'' of the waistline in 14 weeks as a goal is achievable, measurable, sustainable.

Then think about how you think and try to stop using words like, cant, fail, wont, don't etc.. little things can change the world!

mmaibohm, you are absolutely correct!

It doesn't take any courage to lay around and say "I can't." It does, however, take a lot of courage to pick yourself and get moving every day, regardless of the personal challenge you may face. Kick ass, take names later.

Preppyboy, you sound like my son (he's 16) and I wish I could give you a hug. You ran a mile in 10.41? I think that's fabulous and you should be very proud of yourself. It's not easy to be a big guy, especially in a world full of stick people. Sounds to me like you are probably built like a linebacker, you know, the guy the QB lives in fear of. I'd rather be you than the QB.

It sounds like you may be struggling with food choice issues here, and not suffering from inactivity. Why don't you keep track of everything you eat today and what time, then post it here so these other big guys can take a look at it. You are struggling so hard that my first thought is that you might not be eating enough, and/or not eating the right things. These guys can also help you figure out some weight lifting stuff that will help you too, that seems to be the key.

I'm 5'3" and a size 8. When I go looking for a man to help me or protect me, I'm not looking for the QB pretty boy type, I'm looking for the linebacker. I hope this helps and that I got the football analogy right.

Anni you may want to compare the skinny guys to wide receivers. Quarterbacks these days are about 250lbs!

Rats.

I don't think that one can underestimate the value of a good sports analogy when communicating with males. I will pay closer attention this football season.

Hec, I appreciate your taking the time to correct me and hope that the meaning wasn't diminished by my error.

Preppyboy, We're here for ya..

I'm 16 and am at 6'1 240. Started at 295 as highest, I'm pretty much known as the skinny fat guy around where i live because of how active i am, So i'm positive I'm fat cause of my diet. Gonna work on changing it and keep up the active/weight lifting lifestyle.

I feel for ya, I've been made fun of and been known as the fat kid. People my age just didn't seem to respect me as much as other smaller guys. I don't understand why it happens, but I'm gonna work on fixing it for myself mainly, but i admit it'll be nice not having to put up with that crap.

lol. I think i had a point somewhere, but anyways just keep you're chin up and work on it. You'll lose it.

Hey Preppyboy. Please post what you eat on an average day. I think there are alot of people here who could make some good recommendations. You sound active enough, so I bet if you cleaned up your diet you'd make some big progress. Stick with it! I was a fat teenager too. I wish I'd gotten my stuff together when I was your age and I wouldn't be here in my 30's trying to still make it happen. Good for you!
