Is there anything that can speed up how fast your body gets rid of nicotine?

Well mutt I kind of figured that..but I'm a smoker.Be nice gentlemen.
iron...mutt has fabulous advice on many topics so try not to piss him off on your first post.Nothing is going to get the nicotine out of your system faster. It's rough..but you'll get through.Be aware the cravings could last a year or more...not nearly as strong though.I'm the expert on quitting...it's the staying off them that has proven to hard for me.Good luck to you though!

How about one of the mods pull this post. We've gone a long time without name calling and I for one would just as soon keep it that way. That's the kind of stuff that makes it sound like ABC.

Just drink lots of water and the orange juice will replace some of the vitamin c that was depleted. Start an exercise routine immediately to wart off any fat gain. Good luck.
Now that you are inhling good oxygen, you will exhale all the crap.

KC take a vitamin C tablet then, but when I quit the dr told me to take the following

Vitamin C
A B complex vitamin

And as Carivan said LOTS of water to flush the system...the supplements wont help get rid if the nicotine faster, what they will do is to help you feel alot better when you are going through withdrawal

SHEEZ stump...I go from one post where you're talking smack to this one and you're calling me a moron!!!

J/K:laugh:

I know the mental is the hardest...but thinking of it in terms of just 24 minutes of cravings a day will help alot!!!It's the summer evenings when the neighborhood is out drinking tinto and I see someone enjoying a smoke that I lose control and cave! They say practice makes perfect...so this will be the time.I've "trained" enough for it!

It is ok that is why I am a moderator and the reason why I have so many posts! That and the hundreds I have helped out make it worth it. Plus he did get 8 or so private messages with good info from me. Of course he kind of then shot himself in the foot so to speak LOL

Yikes iron...I think the nicotine withdrawl is getting to you!If I were your mother I'd put you two boys in the corner for a time out! This guy is no where near your league mutt just leave it be.

So back to the thread topic...Mystic I'm going to get the vitamins you suggested .I opened a pack yesterday ,that will get me through the weekend while I mentally prepare...then that's it,I'm quitting for the last time monday!!I am terrified of the weight gain though.Last time I quit I gained 20 pounds in 2 months!!I wasn't working out at the time though. What do you think I should expect..just not to continue losing weight ,or should I expect a gain. How did you combat it?
Thanks Mystic your posts are always so helpful!!:)

KC it is over, I am sorry but people such as he coming on here and attacking me is not something I take lightly. Anyway just try to get away from the temptation of both smokes and food. When you get the urge go for a walk and something the endorphins that are released should help a bit to ease the pain of quitting.

I know mutt,I get it it.I'm a very reactionary person myself so I understand your frustration. This guy is just acting like a jerk...quiting smoking can make otherwise very nice people go a little nutty!!Hopefully I won't go that far over the deep end myself!:)
I'll remember your advice...
Endorphins good...smoking bad!!

Ok...here's some advise...maybe we can just delete the other stuff cause it's actually a good question and one I researched a lot, so I would know what to expect when I quit (3 weeks ago).

Half-life of nicotine in the body is actually only 2 hours...when you initially quit the first 3 days are the hardest and that's the only timeframe where the drugs physical addiction plays a role. It doesn't matter whether you've had 1 cig or smoked for 40 years...the amount of nicotine in your body is the same. Once you make it past the third day it's entirely mental. The hardest part beyond the 3rd day is remembering why you quit...write this down...keep a calendar and mark off days for the first 2 weeks. They say the first week you'll have an avg of 6-8 cravings a day lasting about 3 minutes a piece...so you gotta deal with 24 minutes of cravings a day essentially.

Also another thing you should know about the weight gain...it's not mental...it is entirely physical. Cigs cause an immediate spike in your glucose levels. So when you quit you eat to get that same spike...but you eat until you get it...so there's 20 minutes of eating every hour to 2 hours (typical smokers schedule)...thus the weight gain.

Otherwise smokers in general are Morons...myself included!!

Good luck to you!!

:laugh::laugh:

It's the quitting smoking...it makes me cranky. Actually for me even after 15 years I didn't think it was that hard...easier then it was about 7 years ago when I tried it. I did find some thing to replace it with...Lifesavers-Wintergreen mints. I know the sugar isn't great for me either...but it's better then smoking. I usually just keep some in my pocket and pull one out when I get a craving...or when I'm around smokers. My wife smokes and I still go out to the smoking tent at work (just to get away from my desk). I know it's probably stupid to put myself in the situation, but it's just one of those triggers that I needed to learn to turn off and it's not an issue any longer.

OK....I quit as of saturday(I decided I didn't want to wait and went for it saturday morning. It's been AWFUL!!!I've quit many times before and I think this is by far the worst.I hate being so cranky.I don't think my husband is to thrilled either. But I'm looking over everybodys suggestions and remembering why I quit.I didn't workout today. My favorite times to smoke are that first one with my coffee and the one right after I workout. So I didn't drink coffee this morning and didn't workout.I didn't know what to do with myself so I started rearanging furniture. It's 3:30 and I'm still in my PJs so I'm gonna take a shower now....just wanted to say thanks for the advice!!:)

Hang in there KC...you can do it!! The first few days are the hardest...like I said, beyond the 3rd-4th day it's all a mental game...the physical withdrawels are out of the way that point.

In the next day or so you need to start facing the triggers head on and be able to say no.

Either you're stronger then the addiction or the addiction is stronger then you. Which is it gonna be??
