ft TIP of the WEEK - expand your knowledge now!

 Naturally Increasing your Metabolism

Welcome, ft Members, to this week's tip. This week we will talk about natural ways of increasing your metabolism. We all know that a higher metabolism means more efficient bodily operations, including faster weight loss. Although there are drugs that are created for raising metabolism, there are also safe and natural ways to do it. We will take a look at some of these metabolism increasing methods:

- Don't skip meals - When you skip meals, your body enters a fasting mode, slowing down your metabolic rate. You have to make certain that you don't skip breakfast since it is the most important meal of the day.

- Reduce sugar, fat, and alcohol - They all slow down your metabolism. Try to limit your alcohol intake to less than two glasses of wine per day.

- Eat fruits and vegetables - Don't eat fruits after a meal, but rather with breakfast and between meals, as the fruitcose will be converted to fat.

- Eat EFAs - Essential Fatty Acids help to raise your metabolism - they can be found in sesame seeds, cantaloupe, flax seeds, golden rice, and other sources.

- Drink plenty of water - Drink at least 6 glasses (8oz) of water per day, even if you are not thirsty. Water supresses apetite, aids digestion and increases metabolism.

- Get moderate doses of sunlight - Although prolonged sunlight is unhealthy because of the harmful UV rays, moderate exposure can produce effects in your body similar to those of light exercise training!

- Eat plenty of calcium - High calcium levels help fat loss, whereas low calclim levels increase fat storage. Calcium also helps with all of your body functions, and it supresses food cravings.

- EXERCISE - Last but definitely not least, exercising is the best way of increasing your metabolic rate. Weight training and cardiovascular exercise both increase your metabolism, making you feel better throughout your days, and helping you lose unwanted fat.
