 Side Effects of Anabolic Steroids 

 In the 23rd tip of the week, FreeTrainers.com would like to focus on the harmful effects of the use of Anabolic Steroids. The sport of body building more than any other sport has been linked stereo-typically to the use of these performance enhancing drugs. This is because the sport is judged based on the individuals physique. Most other professional sports involve the use of these banned substances, however are not noticeable as much do the the overshadowing physical skills of the competitors. It must be made clear that the use of anabolic steroids is NOT nesecary in any sport. It really comes down to your personal goals as well as level of competition. However, steroids are a foreign drus put into your system - this may and is dangerous to your well being. Let's take a closer look at the harmful side effects associated with the use of anabolic steroids.

Most of these side effects can be avoided and/or treated. Perhaps the most significant side effect is mental addiction. Once an athlete has experienced the strength and weight increase associated with the use of steroids, it is sometimes hard to stop. Realizing that they cannot keep all of the gains they have acquired, mental addiction sets in.

 Common Side Effects:

Increased risk of mood disturbances including mania and depression
Increased risk of aggressive acts which may injure self or others
Increased risk of cardiovascular disease
Increased risk of liver disease and cancer
Increased risk of kidney disease and cancer
Risk of HIV and Hepatitis B & C from contaminated needles
Acne & Baldness
Water Retention
Gynecomastia (growth of breasts) & Decreased testicular size
Decrease in immune system effectiveness
Increased risk of nose bleeds
Increased risk of muscle tears
Irreversible increase in facial and body hair
Irreversible hoarsening and deepening of the voice
Insomnia
