 Anatomical Glance

The triceps brachii are divided into three parts, the lateral head, long head and medial head. The lateral head between your biceps and triceps, the long head is on the back of your arm and the medial head is located at your lower triceps down to your elbow. The purpose of the triceps is to extend the forearm; the long head extends and adducts the arm.

 General Summary

The muscles of the arms are one of the most sought after parts to develop, unfortunately there is too much emphasis placed on training the biceps over triceps. It will be strongly noted that your arm consists two thirds of triceps and one third of biceps. Therefore, if you seek to gain size in your arms, be sure to focus on the triceps to a greater degree. A fully developed triceps forms the shape of a horseshoe as it is referred to as. Many women feel that they need to tone up this area since it begins to hang and look un-appealing with age. Toning up the triceps is the solution to this common problem. It is much more appealing to have a nice defined muscle in the back of your arm rather than loose, saggy skin. It's your body.. you take charge! In terms of competitive bodybuilder's goals, triceps are also very crucial in most of the compulsory poses. Complete arm development requires the training of both biceps and triceps.
