 Training Basics 

 The deltoid as a whole is composed of three small muscle heads, therefore is a relatively small muscle. Basically, there are two types of exercises for the deltoid; presses and raises. These used in variations will train all three heads effectively. It is proven that low reps are best for all pressing movements and high reps are most effective for all raising movements.

 
Beginners should always do the basics in their early training. For the shoulders, you will build your foundation with barbell or dumbell presses followed by standing or seated lateral raises. It is true for all exercises, however, strict form is very important while training the shoulders. It is very simple to use other muscles to assist your shoulders, however this will be a waste of time for your training.

 
The Average member should remember to train the shoulders to target all the three head equally and effectively. The use of machines is recommended to focus on form and stimulation of the correct muscle tissues.

 
Individuals preparing for Competition must take into consideration attaining detail as well as patching up weak spots. It is very important to maintain the basic movements in your training; however implement the addition of movements which will bring out detail.
